Founded by the Gallo-Romans who planted the first vines, Urville remains an essentially wine-producing village. Located in the valley of the river Requin, it is dominated by hillsides. Its 190 hectares of vineyards are planted with the three traditional Champagne grape varieties, with a clear dominance of Pinot Noir. At the place called Val de Millières, one can still see the remains of a Gallo-Roman settlement which are classified as historical monuments, as well as about thirty objects listed in the general inventory of cultural heritage, which are kept in the parish church of Saint-Pierre-aux-liens
