Surrounded by meadows and forests, Mont-Dieu is home to just 15 inhabitants - the Montagnards Divins - making it the least populated commune in the Ardennes department. In the heart of this green setting stands France's oldest Carthusian monastery, founded in 1132, whose remains can still be admired today as a Monument Historique. In 1940, 400 soldiers are said to have spent 3 days here stopping German battalions. A monument commemorates this event. Nearby, several hiking trails allow you to explore the surrounding forest and discover its exceptional flora.
