We love Ferrières for its old stones, its porches, its paved streets, its narrow alleys where small shops flourish, its royal abbey and its sanctuary Notre-Dame-de-Bethléem, which made the reputation of this quiet little town, cradled by the river Cléry. It is hard to imagine the spiritual influence that Ferrières once had, and the life that animated its religious buildings, the chapter house and the monks' refectory, once surrounded by cloisters and monastic buildings. Ferrières owes its name to iron ore. Its mill of the Forge as well as the buildings of the XVIIIth century remain the testimonies of this artisanal exploitation.
