LE PETROUCHKA

Cabaret and Revue
3.8/5
13 reviews

Since 1974, By has built a solid reputation in Lille. It is here that some famous artists (Dominique Sarrazin, Ronny Couteure…) have made their weapons. The experience lasted until 1979, when the teacher changed formula at the initiative of Jean-Marie Denis (Alphonse), joined three years later by Francine Maerten (Zulma). The duo Alphonse and Zulma live on stage two hours during, in a hilarious show, where sketches and songs alternate. Scenes inspired by the everyday life and experience of the people of the North, all sprinkled with Ch'ti accent. Before the show you can dine with the most emblematic recipes of regional cuisine: maroilles pie, Flemish stew, home or cute pork potjevleesch, for example beer. A beautiful and good evening in perspective.

THÉÂTRE DU NORD - LILLE

Theater
4/5
1 review

The Theatre du Nord is a privileged place for culture with its repertoire parts in Lille, and its contemporary creation in Tourcoing. Housed in the prestigious Grand'Garde building of Louis XV, this theatre offers a beautiful overview of the spirit "subsidized public theatre": if he is able to show demanding and successful creations (Calderón, Houellebecq…), he also displays more popular shows, concerts and creations for a younger audience he proposes to play in schools and even on public square to show that theatre is done by everyone and for all. But the theatre of the North is also a nice bookstore that works in partnership with the no less beautiful bookshop Lille Le Bateau Livre, and a cafe now held by the Peek team in Boo. Theatre in the North? A beautiful address, both cultural and greedy!

LE FLOW

Dance Music Artistic Activities
4/5
1 review

The Eurorégional Centre for Urban Cultures, now renamed FLOW, is a unique place whose missions revolve around five strengths. First, support and accompaniment to artists through workshops, personalized advice and residences. In FLOW, artists are given the keys to progress and enrich their practices. But FLOW is not just about professionals. It offers amateurs and semi-professionals a wide range of awareness, initiation and training projects. Yes, here being amateur does not mean being dilettante! Finally, the Centre is at the heart of a network of several structures, all of which are committed to putting urban cultures, mainly hip hop, on the front of the stage. Through strong times throughout the year, FLOW gives the public the best of contemporary creation. The scenic feats of hip-hop dancers and dance break are breathtaking and restore this culture of nobility. This is also what the current Resource Centre also works for. History, sociological studies, archives… urban cultures are studied and analyzed in the same way as all other forms of art. Proof, if one was needed, that urban cultures deserve public attention!

Built after the Lille opera house burned down in 1903, this theater boasts a large, handsome auditorium with typical 19th-century architecture and striking gilding. The recently renovated facade is splendid! What we love about the Théâtre Sébastopol is that you really feel you're in a place apart, with an eclectic program that includes many popular national artists, as well as international dancers and performers. A program of operettas at very attractive prices completes the line-up.
