REGATTABAR JAZZ CLUB
Read moreOpen since 1985, the Regattabar is one of the best places to listen to jazz in Boston and, according to some, all over New England! The club is located in the Charles Hotel on the third floor. You can have a drink on the spot, but on the restaurant side, it is only possible to nibble on a few dishes to share. Plan to dine somewhere before or after the show, the doors open at 6:45 pm on concert nights. The hall is quite spacious, but it is better to arrive early to have a good table, close to the stage.
BOSTON BALLET

It is also home to the largest ballet school in North America. Its repertoire includes classical, neo-classical and contemporary works. In winter, the ballet-féerie Nutcracker is performed here and has been for over 40 years. Please note that performances are held at the Boston Opera House, 539 Washington Street, Downtown.

Today, it hosts classical and contemporary plays, as well as numerous concerts and comedy shows. The programming is quite varied. The Martha's Vineyard Playhouse is the only theatre on the island, and it offers shows all year round. In the summer, book in advance as the venue is very popular.
PROVINCETOWN THEATER
Read moreThis is a showroom that's famous all over Massachusetts. The Provincetown Theater Foundation troupe was formed in 2001. The programming is varied, with a mix of classic plays (such as You Can't Take it With You from 1938) and more modern productions (Sweeney Todd: The Evil Barber of Fleet Street, based on Tim Burton's film of the same name, was a big hit in 2019). ARTSEMERSON - PARAMOUNT CENTER
Read moreWhen it opened its doors in 1937, this theatre was one of the first in Boston to offer films. At that time, it could seat up to 1,700 people! It closed its doors in 1976 and, unfortunately, its beautiful Art Deco interior was largely destroyed. Today, it hosts international film, theatre, music and dance productions. It underwent major renovations between 2005 and 2010 and can accommodate up to 550 people.
THE BRATTLE THEATRE
Read moreThis independent cinema is a former theatre housed in a beautiful building dating from 1890 and located near Harvard Square. It has a single room and is one of the only cinemas in the country to use rear projection technology (the projector is behind the screen and not behind the spectators). Interesting programming, which changes American blockbusters: films from the 1950s, independent or international films with subtitles, but also documentaries. Many Harvard students attend it.

NEW ENGLAND CONSERVATORY
Read moreLocated across the street from Northeastern University, it is the oldest independent music school in the United States. The NEC Jordan Hall, which can accommodate more than 1,000 spectators, is renowned for the quality of its acoustics. It was built in 1903 and has been a U.S. National Historic Site since 1994. It is very beautiful, with its horseshoe-shaped balconies and Italian-inspired organ. Proof of its importance is that the vast majority of recognized classical musicians have performed there.
WANG THEATRE
Read moreLong known as the Metropolitan Theatre, this historic hall dating back to 1925 has had many lives. In the 1960s, it became the home of the Boston Ballet Company and was renamed Music Hall. Bob Marley performed there in 1978 in a recorded concert, which was not broadcast until 2015. Today, the Wang Theatre mainly presents "big" productions, especially those performed on Broadway. People come here to see theatre, but also dance, concerts and opera.
