PROFUMI DELLA COSTIERA

Liquor store €€

Artisanal producer of liqueurs based on limone Costa d'Amalfi PGI, the lemon harvested on the Amalfi coast, which enjoys a protected designation. You can of course buy limoncello, but also crema di limone, which is smoother, and babà au limoncello. Also liqueurs based on other fruits (strawberry, melon...). The production site is directly behind the tiny shop, so the smell is extremely pleasant. Ideal to bring back a gift or a souvenir of your trip to the Amalfi Coast.

CASA INFANTE

Glacier
5/5

An excellent gelateria with an elegant front and gourmet flavours, from the great classics to original combinations such as "Benvenuti al Sud" ice cream with almonds, pistachios and blood orange. The house favours ingredients and products from the Campania region: lemons from Sorrento, apricots from Vesuvius, figs from Cilento... In short, taste and quality. Those who are not afraid of excesses will, on the other hand, fall back on the babà, served in large cups with layers of cream and syrup!

GAY-ODIN

Chocolatier €€
5/5
1 review

You only have to look at the number of points of sale to understand that Gay-Odin is by far the leading chocolate factory in Naples. If he was born in Piedmont, Isodore Odin was the first to open a chocolate factory in his adopted city, in 1894. He named the shop after his wife's first name, Gay, and it was an immediate success thanks to the quality of its sweets. His success was due to three innovations: the Russian blue colour of the packaging, his delicious foresta chocolates (which we recommend) and the nudi. An institution not to be missed under any circumstances.

In Sorrento, Antonio Cafiero is a true institution of extreme pastry: he boasts several appearances in the Guinness Book of Records, with the largest cup of coffee ever filled, or a 200 kg chocolate bathtub where personalities from the Italian TV screen have dived. The walls of the interior room are lined with photos of celebrities who have passed through here, from Roberto Benigni to the Pope. The choice of ice cream flavours is equally vast and each product is handcrafted by the Cafiero family in the on-site workshop.

For almost a century, Augustus has been a reference in artisanal pastries. At this small address along the Via Toledo, people stop to buy a babà, a piece of pastiera or an ice-cream, to be enjoyed on the way. Augustus is also a delicatessen with savoury specialities such as frittata imbottita and a good selection of cheeses (excellent mozzarella). If you want to take your time and sit down, enjoy the tavola calda and its typical good food.

This is the historic café in Piazza Duomo, in operation since 1830. The tables on the square allow you to enjoy the sun in the summer with a good coffee and pastry. Elegant tea room inside for colder afternoons. Try the lemon-based specialities, such as delizia al limone, and Neapolitan pastries (babà au rhum, sfogliatella, pastiera...). On the other side of the square, at the beginning of the main street, the house has opened an ice cream and chocolate shop: Cioccolato Andrea Pansa.

They produce about 20,000 bottles of organic wine per year from their 4 hectares of vineyards. A "human-sized" estate, in keeping with their desire to live in symbiosis with their environment. The visit with tasting offers a great opportunity to discover their wines, which are gradually gaining deserved recognition.

During your walk along Via Toledo, make a short detour to the Umberto I Gallery, first to admire its monumental iron and glass architecture, then to stop at this tiny counter and enjoy a sfogliatella, a speciality of the house that is very well executed. Riccia (puff pastry) or frolla (shortcrust pastry), you will have to choose, unless you are tempted by another of their delicious pastries, such as babà au rhum or promessa d'amore, a dessert to be discovered!

VINCENZO BELLAVIA

Patisserie

A temple of gluttony born in 1925 when Antonio Bellavia, a native of Palermo, left his native Sicily to open a pastry shop in Naples. There is an impressive choice, a very appetizing stall where all the Neapolitan specialities(sfogliatella, pastiera, babà), as well as Sicilian desserts such as cannoli, can be found. The coffee is also delicious. Moreover, the place also makes small snacks. Good news: the brand has a point of sale at the airport, for one last sweet temptation before returning home!

PINTAURO

Patisserie

An institution, a temple, a must-see. Pintauro has been open for over 200 years and is the inventor of sfogliatella, a typical Neapolitan pastry in the shape of a cone, prepared with puff pastry or shortcrust pastry and filled with vanilla or caramel ricotta and candied fruit. It can be served cold, but it is better just out of the oven! The Pintauro's is excellent, even if according to the Neapolitan, Scaturchio's sfogliatella would have become the best. A story of taste to be followed.
