WHISKY DISTRICT
Read moreA great address for whisky lovers! This spirits cellar, run by Marc Mothé, a true enthusiast, offers several hundred references. Other "treasures" include rums, armagnacs, cognacs, calvados, absinthes, tequilas, vodkas, sakés (the only spirit in the store that is not a spirit) and other lesser-known traditional Japanese spirits. One Saturday a month, Marc organizes introductory tasting workshops on whiskies and rums.
UN PAVÉ DANS LA VIGNE
Read moreJust a step away from the Place Viarme, in its continuity, by taking the small one-way street in this sympathetic district of the Hauts Pavés, it is to the 46th street that we recommend a stop, for a pause at the same time greedy and oenological. Here, no fighting, no paving stones are thrown into the pond but into the vineyard! This play on words is certainly a wink to the love of good wine embodied here by Barbara who runs the cellar, and who is also at the service, associated with Rémi his other passion in life, himself a chef. The soil, the stones, the earth (the pavement?), a selection of quality suppliers for a good bistro cuisine and it's won! And as the restaurant is also a wine cellar, it is the possibility on the same place to taste in afterwork these beautiful bottles on the spot or to take away! During the week at lunchtime, including Saturdays, Rémi delights us with his bistronomic formulas: we can enjoy duck ravioli, tuna tartar, and grilled octopus that he masters to perfection. The "good food" is also a menu of the chef's specialties such as his foie gras with pommeau de Bretagne or the salmon gravlax, or the VG, a curry of frika (potato pancake) and kasha (roasted buckwheat). Gourmets will try the chocolate fondant. The Cellar is the new place to enjoy afterwork drinks and discover Barbara's wines that she recommends with a will to democratize, to explain the origins: organic, biodynamic and natural wines. She tells us about her favorites and likes to thematize them: wines for every day, festive wines, wines of the winemakers. Chinon, Burgundy, but also Chablis, Sancerre and of course wines from the Loire region. High passion in this street of Hauts-Pavés! To be discovered!
