Christmas markets are a must in Alsace, the one in Thann is no exception. Integrated into the country of songs and fabrics, about thirty small huts are found in the middle of fir trees decorated by the schools of the Thur valley. Smells of mulled wine and mumbo jumbo, this small authentic market brings traditions up to date: it is from the top of the collegiate church that Santa Claus descends from the sky to launch the festivities. And what could be more enchanting than a Christmas tale revisited by the fabulous troupe of the Bâtisseurs sous la neige?

To the left of Diderot Street, descending from north to south, an imposing building (twelfth century), with its five vaulted nefs. The present church is the result of several constructions of xiiie in the eighteenth. A fire in 1725 gave the langrois architect Claude Forgeot the opportunity to treat this pretty facade. Original, the bell tower, which is a bonded and graceful bell, does not seem to obey this symmetrical law that Forgeot had. It is developed on four levels, the Campanile is very open. This abundance of decoration details contrasts with the sobriety of the building, but adds a delicious Italian character.

The castle was built by Rodolphe d'Andlau around 1344. Many conflicts erupt between Strasbourg and the Andlau, but the castle escapes from destruction every time. Occupied by Swedes during the Thirty Years War, it was destroyed by French troops of Maréchal Marshal in 1678. The remains have a polygonal enclosure, two cylindrical dungeons, ogival doors and windows, a square dungeon and a body of géminées windows.
