This 12-meter-high Statue of Liberty is an exact copy of the original, created by Auguste Bartholdi.
It is the exact copy of the original statue, created by Auguste Bartholdi in 1886, which watches over the entrance to the New York harbor. Reaching a height of 12 meters, it was inaugurated on July 4, 2004 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the sculptor's birth. The Alsatian version of "Miss Liberty" weighs 8 tons of resin and modeling clay tinted in the mass of the same green-gray patina as the original version on a metal structure of Eiffel type. Its majestic toga has exactly one thousand folds. The highlight of the show is its night lighting.

Cette statue est en tout point conforme à celle de New York sauf la taille! Hommage à Bartholdi, né à Colmar. Elle se trouve sur un rond point aussi il vaut mieux se garer sur un parking de magasin pour aller la prendre en photo!

Quelle surprise quand on arrive à Colmar de découvrir cette statue de la Liberté. Après recherches, oui, Bartholdi est natif de Colmar !! D’une hauteur de 12m, difficile de la manquer !! Le monde est vraiment petit.

Joli clin d'oeil !
Joli clin d’œil à la statue de la liberté aux Etats-Unis à l’extérieur de la ville. Il est un peu dangereux de s'y arrêter car elle est sur un rond point !

La réplique de la vraie située à New York : En réalité il s'agit d'un cadeau des Etats-Unis à la France. Le seul soucis c'est que située dans un rond point dans un quartier industriel et fréquenté (vers Houssen) on n'a pas vraiment envie de s’arrêter pour prendre des photos. Le parking est utile mais attention en traversant le rond point si d’aventure vous souhaitez poser au pied de la statue !
