7 reviews

Although tourist, Batz has preserved the authenticity that gives it a lot of charm. From mid-June to mid-September, you can enjoy the opening of the lighthouse to discover, from the top of its 44   m, the beauty of the island and the coast. It is possible to turn around the island (3,5   km long, 1,5   km wide) on foot, bike and even horseback. Rather, the beaches are in the west and south, but the water temperature is often colder than elsewhere. Access from Roscoff (old port at high tide, footbridge at low tide).

FREHEL BEACHES AND GOLDEN SANDS

Natural Crafts
5/5
4 reviews

The commune of Fréhel has two outstanding beaches: the beach of Anse du Croc and the beach of Sables d'Or, a seaside resort born in the middle of the Roaring Twenties. It is a real emblem of the beaches of Costa Rica during the summer season, and a famous surfing spot in the low season. You will enjoy discovering the only beach of the department to be south-facing and sheltered. Moreover, at the end of the Sables d'Or beach, you will discover another natural wonder: the dune arrow.

We call them that because these monumental stones are about 6 m high and weigh about 40 tons! They are aligned perpendicular to the Kerzehro Alignments, from north to south. You will discover the Great Broken Menhir, struck by lightning in 1947, and the Table of Sacrifices (the one that lies down) whose roughness has fed the popular imagination: it is said that the druids, at full moon, sacrificed young children, smearing the menhir with their dripping blood...

THE POINTS

A Ouessant , it is not complicated, you have to go around the island to enjoy the majestic natural landscapes. We are sometimes blown away by the wind, but the island is worth it and its exceptional natural heritage is also worth it: cliffs, jagged rocks, steep coasts.... The tip of Pern is a classified site from which you can observe the strong marine currents that surround the island. The port of Arlan, with its large dike, is also a pleasant place, and you can find the lighthouse of La Jument et Molène. Let's go on an adventure, and you follow the roads and paths, cross the hamlets surrounded by low walls, there is nothing more beautiful!

THE FORGES OF PAIMPONT

Local history and culture
5/5
1 review

In 1675 the Forges settled in the heart of the forest of Paimpont-Brocéliande. They benefit from a good iron ore and a hydraulic network put in place by the monks from the Middle Ages. In the eighteenth century, Diderot and D 'Alembert hold the refinery to illustrate the Encyclopedia. Production is then 500 tons of Iron and 360 tons of iron. The Forges provide orders related to the war of independence of the United States of America. In the nineteenth century, under Louis XVIII, forges modernized. After their peak in 1850, the blast furnaces stopped in 1866, resumed the activity in the war of 1870 and stopped again in 1880. In the twentieth century, forges buy on the external market of iron and iron at low prices to produce agricultural tools, boilers and other equipment to equip the region. The latter activity stopped in 1954. Since 2001, forges are listed on the Supplementary List of Historic Monuments. A restoration program is undertaken with the assistance of the State, the Regional Council of Brittany, the General Council of Ille-et-Vilaine and the owner.

THE GREAT MENHIR BREEZES

Site of archaeology crafts and science and technology
4.3/5

The large broken menhir is one of the most famous stones because it is the most imposing ever worked by prehistoric man (20 meters long for about 280 tons...). Today, it offers to the eye the image of a broken giant, long called the Stone of the Fairy. It is an incredibly impressive obelisk that, standing up, must have been about 18 metres long, just like that! Smart: the Pass des Mégalithes allows you to benefit from advantageous rates to visit five unique sites in Morbihan (the Museum of Prehistory and the alignments of Carnac, the Cairn of Gavrinis, the Cairn of the Petit Mont in Arzon and the site of the megaliths of Locmariaquer).

Trévignon with its dunes and ponds ... But also numerous and equally stunning beaches sometimes of turquoise water ... Not to mention the charming harbour guarded by a impressive rescue station. At the end of the Trevignon point is Villa Castle, a strange building whose foundations may have come from Vauban but is also and above all fully share the beauty of the landscape. The view of the bay forest and Beg-Meil is great and you can even see the Glenan islands, Green Island and Raguenes. Lie down on the small sandy beach, facing the sea, and let yourself be carried away by the waves.

THE ODET

Natural Crafts
4.5/5

In Breton, Bénodet means "the end of the Odet". It took the name of this river which is one of the most beautiful in the region, and even in France. From its source, one can admire the many castles on its banks, as well as the green forests. Many famous writers have been inspired by these changing and bewitching sceneries: Emile Zola, Madame de Sévigné or Jean de La Fontaine. The Cornouaille bridge, located between Bénodet and Sainte-Marine, offers an unobstructed view of the last few kilometres of the river.
