Monuments to visit Brittany

La Roche-aux-fées is one of the most impressive megaliths in France. It is a funerary monument dating from the Neolithic period. The nearest quarry being 4 km away, the hypothesis is that these enormous stones were brought in with wooden rollers. On an alley 20 meters long and 4 meters wide, about forty blocks of red schist, the heaviest of which weighs 45 tons, form a vestibule 1.20 meters high and a room divided into 4 by projecting blocks. Legend has it that the stones fell from the fairies' apron.

Built in 1655 and located in the village of Scaër, rue Louis Pasteur, the manor of Stang-Audren was the residence in the nineteenth century of François Monjaret de Kerjégu. He added additional buildings to accommodate his domestic staff and horses. It was in 1950 that the old manor, renamed the "longer", was sold to the city. On its facade, you can notice small niches under the roof: this is a dodget!

Located in Daoulas, Finistère, the Chemins du patrimoine offer visitors the chance to discover five exceptional sites: Daoulas, Kerjean, Kernault, Relec and Trévarez. Daoulas Abbey is one of these sites, and offers a visit rich in history and culture. Entrance fees are affordable, with discounts for children, students, the unemployed and the disabled. Audiophones are available for tours and workshops, and two stores sell books and objects related to the exhibition and gardens. The abbey café is also open for a gourmet break. The site is accessible to people with reduced mobility, with dedicated parking spaces and accessible toilets. A large parking lot is available close to the site.

The De Longuemar family opens the doors of its residence, a domain registered at the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments (ISMH) dating from the th century. Nestled in a green setting, you will enjoy outside the park of approval, the aisles lined with bandes and), the alleys of cherry and cherry trees, as well as statues and other washbasins. Classified as a Historic Monument, the castle, built from the 11th century, has changed a lot over the course of history. The Romanesque chapel, the oldest part of the castle, is now a magnificent exhibition space for contemporary art, Les 3 CHA. The main dwelling, built in the 14th century, is partly home to the Châteaugiron town hall. The guided tour offers an immersion in the fascinating history of the castle by admiring the different towers (1 h 30 of visit). This discovery of the fortress can also be done at night.

Spared by the Allies's bombings in 1944, Maison de la Fontaine is one of the oldest buildings in the Ponant city. Located in the heart of Recouvrance, it overlooks Penfeld beside the garden of the Explorateurs, facing the Brest castle. Bought by the municipality in 1980, it now offers numerous activities and free exhibitions, organised by the cultural service of the city, or the association des Amis de Recouvrance, initiator of its renovation in 1992. As for its name, it has nothing to do with a certain 17th century's poets. The house has its name from the fountain constructed next to it in 1760. It later became the residence of the most prestigious sculptor (Yves Collet) that this group has ever known: A permanent exhibition is devoted to him in the basement, between the walls of the original fountain. Note that the cross on the gable comes from the Noyés graveyard, which was in this same place until the seventeenth century.

The Trezian directional lighthouse was commissioned in 1894 to guide the boats that take the Channel channel. At 500 m from the shore, it is aligned with that of Kermorvan, located at the entrance to the Conquet. If reaching the lighthouse of the lighthouse involves climbing 182 steps, you will not regret the effort: you will then be 37.20 m from the ground, 86.20 m above sea level, and enjoy a splendid panorama! At the foot of the lighthouse, the warden's house has been developed and presents a permanent exhibition, Marking in the Four Channel Channel: Explanatory panels, objects and models explain the operation of lighthouses and lenses of Fresnel. A temporary exhibition is now complete.

The Pomper mill is a tidal mill that belonged to Duke Jean V who, in 1430, gave it to the chapter of Vannes as a pledge of a 50 pound rent. It was rebuilt in the 18th century. The third marina in southern Brittany, Port-la-Forêt welcomes the largest skippers of the race offshore. " Portlaf ", as it is said here, houses the Finistère Race Pole, the National Center of Excellence for High-Level Athletes who excel in ocean races on Figaros, monocoques and multihulls of 60 feet. The biggest skippers have passed through Port-la-Forêt, including some competitors from the Vendée globe, including François Gabard… that's say! But here, the champions lined up with boaters and walkers on the coastal trails, in bars and in restaurants where everyone likes to find themselves.
