The deer dance is one of the main elements of Mayan culture that has been preserved through time. The ancient ritual that mimics deer hunting is an authentic Belizean experience, visible at several Mayan festivities in the southern district of Toledo. In early August, the Mayan village of San Antonio hosts the Deer Dance Festival.
