The organisation is not the main point of the restaurant, but we come here to enjoy a relaxed and musical atmosphere (reggae and calypso are very often the appointment). Syd's is the restaurant of the Fried Chicken Specialist. There are also good Mexican specialities, and the map offers a beautiful declination of burgers. You can choose to settle inside and outside the patio on the edge of the fountain.

Bart was a pioneer in Belize when it came to wellness cures, and his restaurant reflects this, making it a pleasure to remake the world in his interesting company.

On the west side of the island, this weathered wooden shack is where most locals recommend you go for a good local bite, especially for breakfast. Glenda serves some of the best Belizean breakfasts on the island: fresh fruit juices and cinnamonrolls, accompanied by egg and bacon dishes. Sandwiches, burritos, tacos and rice and beans are also available. For lunch, the menu features a number of vegetarianoptions, such as vegetable burritos.

If you're looking to take a break or meet someone from Belmopan, Wings and Feathers is the place to be in Belmopan. You can grab a coffee, a sandwich or a salad, and take advantage of the excellent wi-fi and the comfort of the place to get together in total serenity. The hot chocolate is really excellent! The place is surprisingly large, with exotic wood furnishings and large murals, and it's a great place to unwind. If you're feeling peckish, try the eggs Benedict.

We come here to enjoy an excellent pizza with crispy dough or a filet of the day's fish, as well as to have a drink, especially in the late afternoon, as it's happy hour here every day! Classic North American dishes such as pizzas are prepared on the spot with the finest ingredients, and we keep coming back for more. In the evening, the atmosphere is festive and there's often live music. Reggae, salsa, Garifuna music, all tastes are catered for.

We recommend the conch ceviche (lambi), very well seasoned, and the salpicon of smoked chicken with shrimps, very original, with the same base as the ceviche (tomatoes, onions, coriander) but less common in restaurants.

Before or after visiting Lamanai, Las Orchideas is perfect for a gourmet break before hitting the road again.

El Salvador's famous pupusa recipe holds no secrets here. You can eat in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere right in the center of San Pedro, without paying a hefty bill. Many locals come here in the evening to chat while waiting for their order. It's an opportunity to meet the local guides and prepare for the next day. The cook in action is a sight to behold, and her pupusas are excellent. A good address for all lovers of Latin ambiances and South American flavours.

We're transported to the other side of the world as we pass through the front door of this small restaurant. The restaurant room is decorated with Chinese lanterns and signs, but it lacks a little charm for our Western eyes. In terms of cuisine, all the major Chinese specialties are on the menu and they're pretty good, as the locals make no mistake and come here regularly with their families. Don't miss the excellent fried wontons! You can also try the chef's great specialty, T-Bones (delicious beef steaks!).

This is the place to come for breakfast or lunch when staying at Blue Creek. You'll find local specialties such as enchiladas, rice and beans, buttered shrimp, as well as burgers and salads accompanied by excellent home fries. The place is simple and the portions quite small for the country, but it really gives you the impression of being one of the inhabitants of this remote region. You'll enjoy talking to Mennonite families here, who are more open to contact than those you meet on the road.

This Taiwanese fast-food restaurant is very welcoming thanks to its cool, colorful decor and smiling staff. You'll enjoy Taiwanese coffee, tea, fresh fruit juices and smoothies, as well as Taiwanese specialties such as spring rolls, chicken, shrimp and beef soups, and mouth-watering cakes for dessert. The menu is quite varied, and vegetarians will find something to satisfy their appetite with veggie dumplings or springrolls, or even with a good vegetable fried rice.

A bakery offering both sweet and savoury delights, Casa Pan Dulce is the perfect place for those on a budget. Pizza slices, sausage puffs, doughnuts, cakes and fruit salads are all on the menu. Everything is homemade. Established in 2000, this bakery has become a benchmark, supplying numerous restaurants and hotels in the Cayo district. The owners opened another outlet in the city in 2010 and a third in San Ignacio in 2013. A flourishing business with quality products.

We come to Luigi's for breakfast or a hearty brunch. Rustic but good, there's plenty to choose from on the menu: French toast, pancakes, waffles, sandwiches and burritos. There's also a menu of classic lunch dishes such as chicken/rice, soups, burritos... At Luigi's, you'll find all the Orange Walk locals who want to eat their fill without spending too much, a truly local place to discover if you're in town for a few days. The welcome is warmer than the region's average.

At the entrance to the town, immediately on the right (when coming from Belmopan), this restaurant has a large terrace where you can relax after a long day. On the menu: burgers, Belizean specialties ( rice & beans), Mexican specialties(tacos, burritos...), as well as refreshing smoothies and milkshakes. Some pretty good pizzas round out the offerings of this unpretentious little restaurant, where it's a good idea to stop for a while to get your strength back before or after an excursion around town.

Located in front of the Best Western on the North highway, the place doesn't look like much from the outside, but locals regularly rush there before taking the road (10 minutes from downtown by cab) to have a typical Lebanese break. Very good dishes with generous portions are offered for reasonable prices. The lamb, coming from New Zealand, is delicious and perfectly cooked. The decoration is not great, but we come here to eat well. A great address! The owner even speaks French if you push him.

As for drinks, the coffee here is 100% Belizean, and can be enjoyed hot or iced, the latter a refreshing option. In short, we recommend this address without hesitation.

There are several supermarkets in town, selling everything from food products to household appliances, luggage and stationery... The sandwich department is well worth a visit, and the locals love it. You can compose your sandwich to suit your taste (different types of bread, cheeses, cold meats, tuna, etc.) and your appetite (several sizes: 6 inches - about 15 cm -, 1 foot - about 30 cm). Perfect for budget-conscious eaters looking for a change from the deep-fried street-food available on every corner of the city.

The large, bright, wooded room is a haven of fresh air for those who venture in during the day. It's hard to leave afterwards, especially after enjoying the international cuisine served here. Curiously, the speciality is stone-cooking: fish or meat dishes are brought to the table on hot cooking stones, and continue to be prepared in front of you. A well-stocked bar and the option of dining outside by the pool in the evening. A real treat.

The best place in San Ignacio to try the region's simple cuisine. Note the wide range of homemade smoothies, whose flavors owe nothing to chemistry!
