A great tex-mex restaurant, reputed to be the best music scene in town! There are concerts every weekend, and a great terrace in the summer. A rather popular pub, vast and organized in half-levels. One orders at the counter, even for the dishes. Nothing very original: hamburgers and meat and fish dishes. A rather large choice of beers, including some Belgian bottles, and of course whisky. Note the boar and doe heads on the walls, as well as a stuffed falcon. Very lively on weekends in the middle of the evening. But for good food, it is better to opt for the Angelini, which belongs to the same owner and which serves a much more refined "American-Italian" cuisine.

Go for the quality of the kitchen (famous Erik Lallerstedt) and also admire the most beautiful panorama of the city. The Gondolen is located at the top of the Katarina elevator, near the lock (slussen) separating the Baltic from Lake Mälaren, between the old town and Södermalm. Nice place to take a drink.

A classic in Växjö, Ox-grillen has been serving burgers to the locals for many years. The little place is located in the middle of the square, right in front of the SF cinema. You can order burgers or falafel, either in the dining room or to go. The menus cost between 50 and 70 Sek with drink and fries. Nothing exceptional but very practical to eat cheap and on the go. It works just as well for those who just want a hot dog for a snack, or those who are really hungry. Try their sauces which are incredibly good.

Perfect to eat an ice cream or drink a tea on the terrace, almost with your feet in the water of the lake. There are sandwiches and a wide range of pastries including a wonderful carrot cake(morotskaka). What distinguishes the Café Fontaine is that it is managed by non-profit associations. Thus, it is also a cultural and associative space that gathers the locals around musical and artistic events. The establishment also offers very nice storytelling evenings (for those who understand Swedish!).

Nivå is one of the oldest restaurants in Sweden, serving customers for over 100 years! The atmosphere is very diverse, from the panther sofa corner, to the western bar, to the room with bright red 80's style walls! The establishment is very large, with a total of 150 seats spread over three different levels. A nice veranda overlooks the square. Food wise, it's simple, good and hearty: burgers and steak, fries and beers are on the menu. You can also go there just to have a drink. Warm welcome.

This place, run by passionate Francophiles, is really only French in name! In three dimly lit rooms, bathed in rather classical music, the dishes are quite hearty. You can eat refined pizzas with crispy dough and covered with fresh ingredients, very good Italian-style pasta, but also classic French dishes (lamb chop, "filet à la Montmartre", foie gras, mussels and chips). You will not be disoriented in this restaurant, but you will not be disappointed either! Pleasant and competent service.

We liked it a lot and it seems that we are not the only ones... The creation of a food market in Malmö had long been a dream for Martin and Nina Karyd, the siblings behind the place. Being foodies themselves, they felt that the city lacked something like this. So when the old Gibraltargatan goods warehouse, which had been empty since the last train left in 1955, came on the market, the duo seized their chance. Cod is the local bar in Strömstad. We eat, drink, dance, in short, we meet there for a little atmosphere in the village. We have a superb view on the port and the sea. As far as the restaurant is concerned, the Cod serves classic dishes, with barbecue, hamburgers and fish & chips on the menu, but also the "hangover menu" for the aftermath of a difficult evening. During the summer months, a number of more or less famous artists perform here. The property covers 900 square metres, spread over three floors. There are several bars and numerous dance floors.

A bright house with a soft atmosphere in the lanes of Visby. Meat and fish dishes around 200 to 250 Sek. The cooking of meat is perfect and local potatoes, apart potatis, are a real delight! An original restaurant about 20 kilometres south of Luleå, located in a completely refurbished farmhouse dating from the late 18th century. The place is dedicated to the Swedish musician Ralph Lundstengården. At the sound of his music you can enjoy local specialities or simply sip a coffee. Everything is home-cooked and the choice is really difficult! There is a small craft shop in the house next door open at the same time. This is an opportunity to discover the Swedish architecture, style and way of life.

A must on the east coast. Ulrika Karlsson, a French-trained sommelier, offers delicious traditional cuisine and an outstanding wine list in this beautiful white house. The products are carefully selected according to the season, and the ethical management of livestock is taken very seriously. The wines are sourced from like-minded producers, and small-scale production is promoted with respect for the environment. Also offers lovely rooms for rent with breakfast included.

Nice little creperie, all in length, wood and white. It is nicely located on Wallérs Plats where many people pass by. The house in which the restaurant is located is very old (vestiges of the ^18th century have been found there) and its particular aspect makes it one of the most photographed places in Visby. The pancakes are very good and nutritious, for reasonable prices. If you want to stay a little longer, the establishment offers for rent a 60^m2 suite, immaculate, in the purest Swedish style.

One of the only places in the old town where you can eat cheap (and very good) pizzas, drink a cold beer brewed in Gotland (Visby Kloster is recommended) and play billiards in the big room at the back with its medieval vaults. The dining room is pleasant and looks directly onto the eastern rampart and its large door. A whole wall has been decorated in the style of a modern living room with shelves, an aquarium and a large flat screen that broadcasts - very often - sports channels. A place that attracts curious and regulars!

Indeed, the café-restaurant is part of a complex of red houses where there is action. Hiking trails, artisan workshops (jewelry), a small open-air theater, concerts and... blueberry harvest! The garden of Sundsby säteri, that is its name, is quite charming and exotic.

If there's one place to have a fika date in the neighbourhood, this is it. In this cosy little lounge with its thousand traditional pastries(semla, kannelbullar, but also kladdkaka sprinkled with pomegranate seeds or raspberries and a breakfast buffet), it's the ideal place to take a little break by the light of the candles that dress the tables in a soft glow. There are also goat cheese and walnut sandwiches, köttbollar (Swedish dumplings) and other delicacies. A real treat, not to be missed if you are in the neighbourhood!

In this covered market (well laid out and pretty), each counter offers daily dishes at low prices (Swedish cuisine - 85 SEK at Björfågel for example - but also Japanese or Italian). Even vegetarians will be satisfied at Vegeriet (dishes between 59 SEK and 75 SEK) and the more curious at Gröna Deli where you can try a piece of salted salmon cake. If you don't want to settle down, there is still the possibility to get delicious food in the various grocery stores. It is the ideal place to bring back gourmet souvenirs!
