The large wooden building seen today was originally two houses built by an Irish immigrant in 1837. A Dane bought them in 1873 and combined them into one building. Three years of restoration, completed in 1994, have brought the hotel back to its original appearance. The restaurant is decorated with the hotel's old furniture while other rooms are furnished with antiques. Knut Hamsun was one of the regulars and his room is still there. A superb address. At the very end of Tyholmen, it is a luxurious hotel with 60 comfortable rooms with marble bathrooms. One stays there mainly for its geographical situation, facing the fjord. That said, the comfort is quite correct, only the atmosphere lacks authenticity. This campsite is ideal for watching the cruise ships go by, comfortably seated on the pleasant lawn. Impressive and yet very quiet. The chalet options are a little more comfortable, especially as the decoration is quite neat. This drop-off point near the Seven Sisters waterfalls will allow you to stay in Geiranger at a lower cost and in a rather nice calm even if many tourists. Prefer the off-season if possible.

The facade of the establishment is rather beautiful, the comfort rather basic but sufficient. Nice view on the Sognefjord. The road ends here! Souvenir kiosk, restaurant, single and double rooms. The place also offers for rent comfortable and well-equipped chalets with a magnificent view on the glacier, on a huge waterfall and at the same time on the fjord (chalet Kvilsbu). An easy walk (about 2 km) on foot or by cart (with reservation) is well worth it. A 6 km hike allows you to make a small summit for the most experienced. Great!

It is pleasant to see the artists working while enjoying a coffee and a delicious cheese cake. This place is known for its hospitality and style.
