Plastic menus, skewers, wooden furniture and quick service, no doubt, it is a real little Thai gargote run by people from the village. It serves honest Thai cuisine and seafood specialties that can be chosen in a vivarium.... Beer is cheapest here too. The Madama Ping restaurant next door is also worth a try.

This Phuket Town classic is located in a small recess in a charming old building built at the beginning of the 20th century and renovated in recent years. There is a bewitchingly old-fashioned atmosphere. It offers a succulent Thai cuisine, with some more original dishes specific to the region, stemming from the Perakan culture. Don't hesitate to try the popular dishes, the local specialties mentioned on the menu, such as crab curry. Pleasant service. The only downside is that the light would benefit from being dimmed more at night...

Cosy restaurant in a wooden house on one floor. The tables are distributed on various small terraces and on the ground floor, open on the street (fairly quiet). Green plants, small fountains and sculptures adorning the place. Pleasant decoration and light lighting. Thai specialities, especially fish and seafood, but also sashimis, barbecue, vegetarian dishes… Dishes are prepared without MSG. A good place for dinner.

The Longtail Boat, which used to be the most recommendable restaurant on the old and popular Seafood Street, has moved to Khlong Road, the road leading to Noppharat Thara. It is still an excellent option for a quality dinner. First, for its chic, dimmed and romantic atmosphere. The Raya Resort's restaurant, with its traditional Thai architectural style, is superb. This elegant setting is ideal for a sophisticated and romantic dinner or gourmet lunch. A la carte, carefully concocted fish and seafood specialties, but also the classics of Thai cuisine and some western dishes. The dishes are copious and carefully presented. Wine list provided and attentive and discreet service. One of the best tables in town.

This friendly restaurant is located not far from the landing stage, on the main street (crossing the village from west to east). The menu is varied and international, with an emphasis on seafood, particularly... crab! Traditional Thai recipes are well executed. The fish are fresh and tasty. Without being exceptional, the Lucky Crab is nevertheless one of the best restaurants in Haad Rin, the offer being of poor quality in this part of the island. The service is pleasant but sometimes a bit long. Reasonable prices.

The meeting place for the island's Francophones. A small roadside delicatessen that serves delicious traditional cuisine at floor prices. The place is open with wooden furniture. Pad thai, noodles, curries, vegetarian dishes... everything is cooked on the fly. It's authentic and you can choose the level of chilli peppers, from not at all to very much! It is a simple but delicious cuisine, to be accompanied by a coconut for the drink. You can also rent a scooter, if your hotel is nearby. This modest establishment is very popular with travellers.

Close to the landing stage, this nice little restaurant has a terrace with a magnificent view of the bay. On the menu are the usual Thai specialties, and fish and seafood, concocted in a classic Thai style, grilled or stir-fried. It's good and really cheap. Possibility to drink a cold beer, or even spirits if you feel like it after a long day of diving. Several establishments of the same type are lined up in front of the beach, but this one remains our favourite

This small restaurant offers excellent cuisine concocted just like at home by Kati. It is located in a charming house on the side of the road. The dishes are delicately presented and the different flavours are balanced. It's probably the best Thai table on the island. Everything is worked out minute by minute so the wait may be a little longer than elsewhere, but your patience will be rewarded. For dessert, try homemade coconut or passion fruit ice cream. Cooking classes are also given.

Located south of White Sand Beach, near Klong Prao, this restaurant serves good seafood specialities. The egg noodles (egg noodles) prepared on the premises, served with seafood, are to be tasted. This wooden restaurant on stilts is located along a river, just at the mouth with the sea. To get there you have to take the street of the Ramayana Koh Chang Resort. In addition to the exceptional location, guests come for the excellent fish and seafood preparations and the mild prices. The classics of the national cuisine are also served here. The service is a little nonchalant but the quality of the dishes and the splendid view make you forget this false note. The wooden structure is a little floating, but it holds!

This restaurant at Baan Lamai Resort is famous in Patong. It is installed on an open-air terrace facing the beach. This small restaurant in a straw hut is located with its feet in the water and offers a magnificent view of the beach of Mae Nam. It's a beach bar with touches of color here and there. Excellent traditional Thai cuisine, fresh fruit juices and even massages! It is the occasion to taste the famous mango sticky rice, very good here, which is the favourite dessert of the Thai people. Good music but not too loud. A perfect place to spend a nice day at the beach...

This is surely the most creative and original restaurant in the area! There are only a dozen tables, so reservations are recommended. The place has a unique decor, not necessarily to our taste, but the cuisine on offer is of a rare quality. Cafe 69 offers Thai dishes, revisited and modernized. Some would call it fusion cuisine. Dishes are presented with care, color and imagination. The menu changes regularly according to the chef's inspirations. Excellent cocktails are also available.

It is frequented as much by tourists as by locals, which is a guarantee of quality. Wooden tables and chairs are placed on the sand, where you can sit in the shade in the open room. It's excellent and the rates are very low.

Chef Gao worked in some of the finest restaurants on the Côte d'Azur before settling in Bophut with his wife. Two types of cuisine are offered: Thai and French, Mediterranean and Provençal. Half-cooked tuna with exotic sauces, fish of the day, porcini ravioli, 7-hour-cooked lamb mice, also very good meat from Australia. Dessert was also top-notch, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream surrounded by a warm doughnut covered in strawberry coulis. A real treat!

Located within the very romantic Resort The Pavilions, close to Layan Beach, The Plantation Club serves fine cuisine and celebrates the quality of Thai agricultural products by involving the small farmers of the region. Here, traditional cooking techniques meet the innovations of modern cooking. The menu features only products that have grown in the hotel's gardens or come from local farmers chosen for their ethical practice. Customers are assured of quality products!

This restaurant is very popular with locals for a number of reasons. Firstly, its terrace is located on the banks of the Nam Ping, just opposite Wat Chai Mongkhon, and offers a superb view of the temple and the river. Secondly, it offers a tempting range of dishes: noodles of all kinds, including the famous khaosoi, but also recipes from the north of the country. The IDA is the place of predilection of the youth of Phimai. You can eat, drink and watch a concert. Rock atmosphere in this warehouse style room with brick walls where Harley exhaust pipes are hung. It has a high ceiling and two floors. On the menu: Thai specialties and some steaks. The most impressive thing is the beer list, with many local and international beers! Bands play there some evenings. A modern place that is a bit different in this small provincial town

The popularity of this restaurant lies more in its setting than in its cuisine. Located facing the river, in a beautiful traditional wooden building, you can choose to sit on the floor around small tables or, more typically, sit on the sides with hanging legs (which gives the restaurant its name). Very few à la carte dishes: soups with egg noodles or rice noodles, most often with pork. Pad thai and hors d'oeuvres are also available, including excellent pork toast.

Restaurant with terrace on the banks of the Wang River. Beautifully decorated entirely in teak. The cuisine is decent, the menu varied and the prices reasonable. You can come just for a drink. For atmosphere, live music orchestrated by Thai bands, in the evening from 8 or 9 pm. The neighboring restaurant, called The River, offers more or less the same services, but with a slightly nicer view.

This unassuming establishment is highly regarded by the locals. The food is good, and you can try some recipes that are hard to find elsewhere. Unfortunately, there's a small English menu that only covers a quarter of the Thai menu... A limited choice for foreign customers. What's more, the service isn't exactly efficient. It's a pity, because this place could do with a comprehensive English-language map.

The place is very pleasant, with waxed concrete walls, the soft jazz-soul music that the owner loves, and an interesting menu at attractive prices. It's a pleasant place, and a good spot to drink a cold beer and watch passers-by.
