Thai and French cuisine (go for the prime rib with roquefort sauce!). It's a must-see place, especially for local francophones

The Celtic, a little difficult to find, offers Thai, French and Italian specialties, the menu offers an incredible variety of dishes. For more than a dozen years now in Thailand, Bertrand, an expatriate from Brittany, has always been in a good mood in his restaurant. It is not uncommon for the boss and chef to come to the guests' table to make sure that the meal is going well. Very friendly welcome. The dining room exudes a friendly atmosphere. International clientele. Yec'hed mate!

This place is frequented by Thai regulars, a sign of good value for money. Unpretentious restaurant, whose very ordinary setting is more like a canteen, but which has grown in size as its reputation has grown. You will be able to taste good Thai specialities such as pork curry, khao soi, and chicken in coconut milk. Nikita's is located a few meters from the sea, and facing Koh Bon, Koh Ratcha and Coral Island. The prices are very reasonable and the service is rather professional. Tip: book your waterfront table in advance for dinner.

The establishment is located on the main road from Patong to Surin, you can't miss it. First of all Thai cuisine, including dishes that you can only find at Ohlala, but also tasty French dishes (beef recipes, mincemeat parmentier or fondue among others), and excellent pizzas. Don't forget to taste their creation: the Tam-Tam. Resident" prices are reasonable. The brocante-style decor is warm, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Everything is homemade including the bread.

A single-storey building in the immediate vicinity of the Hadthong Hotel, with a large, pleasant terrace overlooking the waterfront. The establishment offers decent seafood and fish specialties at affordable prices, though more expensive than its neighbors. The food on offer is of uneven quality, with Thai dishes to be preferred. Service is decent. The location along the promenade is its main quality, and in the evening the atmosphere is pleasant for a drink, while listening to local musicians.

This hotel restaurant is in keeping with the establishment, extremely cosy and warm, with wooden furniture. The menu offers Thai and Burmese dishes, as well as excellent fish and seafood specialties. Myanmar dishes are a great discovery, especially since no other restaurant on the island offers them. The menu changes regularly, and the establishment is open to all! The cocktail menu is also of high quality. ODT is a good choice for a dinner party even if it's a bit expensive, but you should also think about having fun!

This outward-looking restaurant attracts both passing tourists and locals. Bee Bee is on the stove and prepares both traditional Thai cuisine and excellent thin pastry pizzas (on Fridays). Her husband's in the gym. The dishes are hearty and tasty, and adapted to European palates. On the other hand, the service can sometimes be a little long or even totally nonchalant if the bosses are absent. The Bee Bee is still the best place in Ban Phe to spend a good evening with friends

This little restaurant doesn't look like much, wedged between two buildings, but it's well located with its shaded terrace overlooking the river. The cuisine on offer is inspired by Peranakane, i.e. inherited from the first Chinese migrants to Thailand. It's good, indeed, but the prices are a little overpriced to take advantage of the foreign clientele. It's an opportunity to sample the region's fish and seafood, especially the excellent freshwater prawns. A good address for lunch.

Established in Sukhothai for many years, this discreet restaurant is one of the best options for tourists. In fact, the dishes are adapted to Western palates, and will only be spiced up at your request. There are also a few Western recipes (steak and French fries), as well as some very good sandwiches. The reputation of the breakfasts is well established, and the menu subtly blends local flavors (ask for the Thai menu) with Western influences. An amusing detail: the walls are covered with words left by travelers... Where's yours?

The restaurant of the Resort of the same name probably has one of the best locations in the city centre: on the river, with a nice view on the wooden bridge. The large terrace has a bucolic atmosphere where it is pleasant to stroll. The cuisine is all in all classic, with Thai dishes, burgers, salads, fresh fruit shakes... It's quite successful and the prices are very honest. You can also come here to enjoy a cold beer.

This long restaurant is located on the main road in the city centre. On the menu: Thai food of course, but also grills, pizzas, pasta, burgers... The place, popular, is mainly frequented by families of foreign tourists. The dishes are logically "westernized", therefore less spicy, and the menu is varied to meet all the demands, including those of these dear children. Very good value for money.

This typical little restaurant is always full, and very often people are waiting to take their seats. The atmosphere is friendly, we sit on wooden benches around several common tables. What's the rush? It's very simple, the traditional Thai cuisine served is succulent, the service is fast, and the prices are rather modest. Fish and seafood dishes are particularly well concocted. So popular that a second N°6 opened further down the street, a little higher up.

The Cabbages & Condoms is the Birds & Bees Resort restaurant, part of the profits being paid back to a foundation that supports the schooling and well-being of disadvantaged children in the north-east of the country.

Located just opposite Wat Ratchaburana, Malakor is one of the most pleasant places in the city. This large wooden structure houses a café-restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and terrace and a small air-conditioned room on the ground floor dedicated to the coffee section. Excellent Thai cuisine, fine and flavoured. The dishes, both classic and original, are delicately presented. Efficient and friendly service. A recommended place for lunch or dinner, but it is likely that once you try it you will want to go back!

Located in the Jungceylon shopping centre, this restaurant is decorated like a Parisian bistro with a leather bench and a small table, with a Thai touch (photos, paintings, half tuk tuk...). You can also eat at the counter, sitting on stools. The menu is divided between Thai specialities and Western recipes. The dishes are generous, very tasty, and the atmosphere is always very friendly. A good option to eat during your shopping session, or to start your evening. Good alcohol list.

An excellent place for those wishing to sample traditional Lanna cuisine, prepared to the highest standards. Very popular with locals, this typical, unpretentious restaurant offers a range of specialties: grilled pork, offal, beef, stuffed chicken, lanna sausages, soups, curries, various nam prik, several recipes for papaya salads (som tam)... The menu is exhaustive, and here dishes are shared between guests, Thai-style! The portions are generous and the flavours authentic. A recommended address.

Finally a small traditional Thai restaurant in Pai! Located at a corner of Walking Street, this local colourful establishment offers dishes at very competitive prices! The classics of Siamese cuisine are present on the menu, from Khao Soi to Pad Thai. The service is nice, you can choose to sit in the open room or in another air-conditioned one. The only drawback is that the portions are a bit small. In the evening, the restaurant is a bit hidden by the Night Market stalls but a raised sign indicates its location. A good plan for the city.

Right in the city centre, on the left bank of the Phetchaburi River and just next to the Chom Klao bridge, this nice little wooden restaurant with its old-fashioned decoration exudes a certain charm: background music, photos of singers hanging on the walls and a view of the river. Thai specialties at low prices. The proposed rooms have shared bathrooms and look like small cells! For (very) tight budgets only.

Much the same as its neighbors: very fresh seafood, preferably grilled. If there's more than one of you, it's best to order several dishes so you can build up a range of grilled fish and seafood. Dishes requiring more skill are rarely successful.

This restaurant is located near the Kasemsarn Hotel. The setting is pleasant, you can sit in the large white tiled room or on the small terrace. The cuisine, mainly from the east of the country, is excellent and the prices are quite reasonable. Thai customers come here in large numbers. Specialities based on crab with coconut or shrimps. The most courageous can try the massaman curry with chicken and durian! The desserts on crushed ice are very refreshing. One of the best restaurants in town.

We fell in love with this small establishment located between the old Chinese market and the Wang River. Housed in a traditional wooden house, this restaurant-bar offers revisited Isaan cuisine. The menu is limited, but the dishes are carefully prepared. The Isaan-style salad with smoked salmon was our favorite. The only drawback is that the dishes are not very copious. The decor is superb, the place very welcoming, warm, almost lounge-like. Special mention must go to the bar, where the subdued lighting is a real eye-catcher.

Located directly on the beach, this nice bar-restaurant proposes good Thai dishes and seafood specialties at very affordable prices. The cuisine is quite good. They also serve alcohols, beers and good cocktails to sip with your feet in the sand while admiring the blue horizon. An unpretentious, simple establishment, which has the advantage of being very pleasant and friendly. In the evening, musicians come regularly to perform live. A good place to spend a good evening without breaking your piggy bank.

One of the best seafood restaurants in Koh Lanta, Saladan. The Saladan Seafood is a great success, with its own lobster farm, which you can choose before your meal, served on the large terrace on a pontoon with a beautiful view of Lanta Noi. The cooks are from the Chao Ley people, and they will know how to bring you to a boil: the products are fresh and the cooking is perfect. Large choice of prepared dishes or fish and seafood by weight.

In this cultural centre you can enjoy the culinary specialities of Lanna, in front of a show, a musical fresco composed of a sequence of traditional dances. It's very touristy, but really interesting. This reconstructed village is located to the southwest and outside the old town, and offers a nice show that has been around for over thirty years now! There is also a small local craft market and an old religious building.

This Beach Club is located in the middle of 2 small beaches, Paradise Beach and Chill Beach. The restaurant serves correct Thai and Italian cuisine. Several bars on site. The perfect place to have lunch if you decided to spend the day there. DJ every day from 4pm to 8pm. Deckchairs and showers available. A free shuttle bus runs every 30 minutes to and from the Illuzion Club, Jungceylon Shopping Center and Hooters (Hard Rock Café).

A charming little establishment near the north gate of the old town. Run by a friendly couple, this restaurant has a simple, pleasant atmosphere, with an attractive decor. The menu features the classics of Thai cuisine: pad thai, pad krapao, fried rice, all kinds of noodles, panang curry, green curry with vegetables... It's all good! Try the excellent khao soi, Chiang Mai's specialty, prepared with chicken or beef. A very good deal for lunch, especially as prices are very low.

A restaurant as unusual as it is beneficial, on the theme of contraception. With artworks, activities of all kinds, condom distribution, proceeds donated to sex education programs, and an on-site family planning clinic, the idea behind this restaurant is to educate people about sexual health, which is sorely lacking in a country where many teenage mothers live. It's an original visit, as well as being of definite tourist interest, as the cuisine is local, and traditional shows are often organized at weekends.

This establishment actually comprises three entities: the Churn Café, open until 5pm, a takeaway stand selling fresh cold-pressed fruit juices and drinks, and Tangluk, a bar-restaurant open until late. The Churn is a small, elegant and friendly café, with a decor reminiscent of a bygone era. Tangluk is spread over several floors and offers good Thai cuisine and a myriad of drinks. In the evening, live bands provide the ambiance. Located along the railroad line, you can even watch the trains go by..

Installed on stilts, the "People of the Sea" restaurant is of course specialized in fish and shellfish. Good local reputation... The atmosphere is closer to that of a canteen than a big restaurant. Beautiful terrace overlooking the beach. The fish is cooked to perfection. The large number of customers suggests that the products are very fresh, which is very positive. On the other hand, we noticed a certain carelessness concerning the service on certain evenings. It's a pity that the prices are a bit prohibitive.

A convenient address in the north of the village, on the road to Chalok Baan Kao. Thai restaurant offering appetizing family cuisine. Green papaya salad (som tam), curries, sandwiches... The choice is vast. There are also good breakfast options. A typical wooden place. Floor prices are another factor in the success of Yang Thai Food. The service is rather fast and very friendly. A bit hard to find, but it would be a shame to miss one of Koh Tao's best shots.

This group has existed for more than 30 years, and has restaurants in Brussels, Bangkok, Paris, London... The cuisine is adapted to Thai palates, so don't forget to specify"mai phet" if you don't want your dishes too spicy. Dinner is served in an old wooden house or in the garden with a small artificial pond, lit by large wooden lanterns.

This restaurant is very popular with locals. It occupies a large terrace overlooking Chao Phraya with a pretty view of the Portuguese church, illuminated in the evening. A la carte several fish and seafood specialities, traditional dishes and some European dishes. Thai-style service: courteous and very attentive (we fill your glass before you finish). Beer available as well as alcohol bottles. Lights are placed here and there, and music groups often come to brighten up the evening.

Wooden decoration of the best effect: nice space in front of the bar, with teak floor. Large room occupying the back of the restaurant. Known for its good reputation, it is somewhat outlying to the south of Lake Chong Kham. The front and back room are open to the outside and the light is dimmed by curtains of green plants: tropical atmosphere guaranteed. The setting is very pleasant, with tablecloths on the tables and a flowered garden on the terrace. Various Thai specialities à la carte. Musicians some nights. Recommended.

One of the island's hidden treasures! Situated in the hills between Chaweng and Lamai, The Jungle Club is a charming establishment offering exclusive accommodation and an exceptional panoramic bar-restaurant. Chef Wally offers top-flight cuisine, with international recipes prepared with quality ingredients, to be enjoyed in elegant surroundings. The view over Chaweng Bay is simply breathtaking. Reservations recommended.

Downtown restaurant located on a small side street between the lake and the main avenue. Completely renovated in 2021, it now has a very pleasant modern setting with high ceilings. Classic Thai cuisine for the most part: pad thai, morning glory... The food is quite simple but of good quality. Menu available in English. The waiters are smiling and attentive. The only drawback is that the place is a little difficult to find, the street where it is located is close to Ngamta Hotel. Recommended.

It's easy to miss this unpretentious roadside establishment... And yet, it is a great success with travelers. The setting is pleasant: a beach bungalow type structure, wooden furniture and discreet music for the atmosphere. But the asset of this restaurant is its very good Thai cuisine at low prices. The dishes are copious and well presented, and above all they are tasty. All the classics of the country's gastronomy are proposed, from pad thai to massaman curry, declined in vegetarian recipes or not.

When night falls (at around 6 p.m.) and everything falls asleep around your guesthouse, head to Sinvana for dinner: you'll find a charming setting and exclusively Thai cuisine adapted to Western palates. All in all, it's rather bland, but the setting is worth the trip. Some like it, others hate it... This large tourist restaurant is used to groups passing through, but sometimes it's quiet. If you ask us, it's better to dine in one of the smaller establishments facing the entrance to the historic park...
