CITY HALL
Read moreCity Hall is New York City Hall, home to the city council, the mayor's offices and various other government departments. The building, built between 1803 and 1812 and restored in 1956, is a prestigious colonial-style building. The steps of this building are famous and popular because of the various events and press conferences that took place there. In the lobby, you can see the trophy won by the New York Yankees in 1996 at the world championships. You can also visit the Governor's Room, an elegant room where various portraits of important men illustrating the history of the United States (Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton...) are displayed. This room was George Washington's office. City Hall Park around the building is a very pleasant green space. In the past, it was a place of public executions. Don't be surprised by the very French influences of architecture, it was the Frenchman Joseph François Mangin (1794-1818) who drew the plans for the building. The vaulted windows and ornaments are inspired by the hexagonal architecture of the time. It is also where many New Yorkers get married here! To say"yes" to New York, you must go to the adjoining building, the Office of the City Clerk - Marriage Bureau, where you will obtain your marriage license for the modest sum of US$35. You can get married the next day. However, it is impossible to choose the time of the ceremony, you will have to go there and wait until it is your turn.
ROCKY STATUS
Read moreThe 82 steps of the museum and the statue of Rocky (at the bottom of the steps, on the right side opposite the museum) are unmissable of a visit of Philadelphia. We scramble to take pictures in front of the famous (and fictive) boxer immortalized by Stallone in the saga eponymous and we climb the steps running as "the Italian standard" in the first of six films. The statue appeared in the 3 rd opus, and if originally it was (as in the film) at the top of the steps, it was moved to avoid too dangerous gatherings. This saga, which tells the story of a man full of ambition from the poor neighborhoods of Philadelphia becoming a successful boxer of success, has contributed greatly to raising awareness of the city internationally.

MOUND CASTLE
Read moreThis famous hotel has been classified as a historic cultural monument in Los Angeles since 1976. And as a result, it's a cornerstone of Hollywood heritage.
Originally, this is a set of luxury apartments that Fred Horowitz, a famous lawyer from Los Angeles, built in 1926. It is his brother-in-law who realizes this magnificent building inspired by the Amboise Castle in France. Named after the street name which crosses the front of the property, the complex becomes the Château Marmont.
The castle then became a hotel in 1931. The apartments become suites and are furnished by artist Albert E. Smith, who is the property of rich personalities to complete his original decoration. It gives birth to the "Marmont Look" which means a unique decoration of wood, velvet, a blend of chic bric. Later, the hotel also welcomes bungalows in the modernist style from the 1950 s.
Finally, the castle is bought by André Balazs of the Hotels AB group. If the hotel wants to keep the style and decoration so special of the hotel, the spirit of the place is preserved, but almost all the rooms are rethought and renovated.Imagine Greta Garbo in Queen Christine! A true legend, this dark and tragic castle stands atop a steep coast. Hidden in a corner, he surprises you. Of course, in Hollywood, it is for laughs and there is nothing to fear in this eagle lair where you will go incognito and enjoy an exceptional place. The building was built in 1926, on the model of one of the Loire castles, adapted to Hollywood fashion without yet making cardboard. Its Gothic openings and twisted walls give a little magic to the hotel. But above all, we admire its cottages and suites that have welcomed the greatest names of cinema and music for long stays, making Château Marmont a kind of «rite of passage» for each respectful artist. In 2010, Sofia Coppola paid tribute to this Hollywood institution in his film Somewhere. In 2017, the British crooner Jarvis Cocker and eccentric pianist Chilly Gonzales recorded Room 29, a magnificent album that transcribed the atmosphere of this emblematic place of Hollywood golden age.
If you are in the corner, enjoy the beautiful property and enjoy the pleasure of a coffee or lunch in this cinema decor.
