The building that houses the Harris Theater is a thousand miles away from the Chicago Theatre and the many historic theaters in the city: rather modern, it was built in 2003, and is distinguished by its glass facade through which the beautiful lobby can be seen from outside. It can accommodate nearly 1,500 spectators.

A Sports bar a little chic where you can watch the games in the evening thanks to the 22 flat screens in the bar and a great sound system, while tasting one of the 60 draft beers at the counter. Some of which they produce themselves in this micro-brewery which has all the decor. As often, the happy hour is very economical with dishes and drinks at mini prices. The locals' favorite Scottish pub. The large terrace is great in summer for enjoying one of the good beers on the menu. It's heated in winter. If it's still too cold, you can also nestle inside the warm, festive interior, where you can enjoy simple, tasty dishes such as fish & chips or traditional mac & cheese! A real traditional American pub, with salads and burgers also on the menu. A great place to have a drink or share a meal with the family.

Following a change in ownership at the end of 2021, LUSH is now ready to shine again with its former luster. A staple of the Minneapolis LGBT scene along with Gay 90's, you can go there for Sunday brunch as well as for a Saturday night out. The cocktails are excellent, and the clientele rather relaxed. This party place, which is now defined as a lounge theater, proposes activities as varied and extravagant as drag queen bingo, on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, as well as fashion shows and concerts.

One of the leading clubs of the San Franciscan electro scene, in a refined decor that inspires... Three very design rooms: The Shrine and its white marble floor, Destiny Lounge, combining luxury and technology with its sofas, and Catacombs and its Buddha statues to dance in the heart of the temple! The whole place is sounded with Void, an excellent brand. An element that we like: the zero waste policy that applies (no flyers, biodegradable glasses, etc.). This gay-friendly club has long specialized in hard rock. It's a shaker: music from the 1980s, goth, industrial, new wave, punk, dead rock and indie. Thursday is 100% 1980s, Tuesday karaoke. Two rooms with very different atmospheres and a cage for gogo dancing, which is also used on Wednesdays for bondage parties. Make sure you don't get the wrong day!

The place embodies the history of the Barbary Coast and Prohibition. Every night, artists take turns at the microphone for live concerts. On Mondays, it's open mics in town, a stage open to all. The rest of the week, the program revisits the roots of America, from bluegrass to country. Moreover, on Saturdays and Sundays, brunches are often accompanied by free concerts that add an extra touch to your quesadilla. Highly recommended to immerse yourself in the great American music!

Nice bar and restaurant facing the bay, in the new trendy district of Dogpatch. We fell in love with the location, because an aperitif facing the ocean is still a must on vacation. Go there around 6pm, when thehappy hour is in full swing and it's full of hilarious hipsters, and enjoy the terrace with your feet in the water! On summer weekends, concerts and salsa classes are organized, caliente atmosphere guaranteed! A fishing store in the 1950s, this indoor and outdoor bar with patio is a well-kept secret among the locals.

A concert bar run by volunteers and music enthusiasts since 1986! Shaky programming and trendy bands for this small venue that struggles to make ends meet, but is the pride of the locals. The Gilman is mainly associated with having been the springboard for the 90s punk revival led by bands like Green Day, Operation Ivy, Rancid, AFI and The Offspring. A must-see for any rock fan visiting Berkeley, you'll find good sound and a great atmosphere here.

Far from fearing the shadow of its famous elder Second City, Up Comedy Club produces excellent improv and one-man shows. Get there early if you want a good table. Beware, as is often the case in this kind of place, the audience can be taken to task! Avoid the first two rows if you don't want the comedian(s) to start a conversation with you. You can eat on the spot, but the food is decent without being extraordinary. In any case, it is rather difficult to chew when you are laughing out loud!

9 Muses is a bar, which also serves as a restaurant, concert room, and much more. It is one of the favorite places of the Greek community, but also of all neighbors, hellens or not. We drink ouzo more than reason, try to rebalance with a few delicious pitas, and the evening gets fast. Friday and Saturday, DJ's heat the atmosphere.

Located on the roof of the McKittrick Hotel is this friendly cocktail bar. The drinks are so inventive and successful that you'll find yourself liking cucumber with gin, or grapefruit with rum. The bar boasts trees and tall plants and gives the place a jungle feel. Add to that the beautiful view of the Hudson River and you'll have a great night. If you're doing Sleep No More, also in the McKittrick Hotel, this bar is the perfect place to debrief with your friends about the night you just had...

One of the few Harlem speakeasies still open today. This bar with its chillatmosphere - meaningcool - is known in New York for its dantesque cocktail list. From gin and cucumber to vodka and cinnamon, the menus are so inventive that you never know what to expect when you order. Cocktails are classified by spirit (rum, vodka, gin, whiskey...). Don't hesitate to ask the barman for advice if you don't know what to choose. A place to discover for a relaxing evening.

One of the best speakeasies in town, and one of the only ones still open that actually served as a speakeasy during the Prohibition era of the 1920s. Don't look for flashing red neon lights to find the entrance to the bar, but rather a staircase guarded by two bouncers. The bar's decoration seems to be inspired by the home of Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy. The place once belonged to New York mob boss Luciano, and is one of only two true speakeasies to have survived the century.

One of the most beautiful views of New York City, on the 18th floor of the Standard Hotel. Nightclub and bar, Le Bain is one of New Yorkers' favorite addresses. Garden deckchairs, fake lawn, waitresses dressed all in white, whirlpool bath, drinks served in transparent plastic cups, everything is done to remind you of the beach, the holidays... In addition to a bar, the Bain is also a nightclub where the biggest names of the night perform. Be careful, depending on the evenings, access is sometimes very difficult.

At Rum House, we almost forget we're in Times Square. This piano-bar has not changed much since it opened in 1970, it is the area around the establishment that has evolved. The wooden interior looks very vintage, but it's simply because it's authentic. To reinforce this feeling of time travel, the waiters have kept their original clothes! The bar has a second life thanks to its long cocktail list and excellent mixologists. All this to a piano tune. A place out of time.

A small and unpretentious neighborhood bar, with a very large selection of beers: 18 draught beers and 30 bottled beers. Good cocktails too. The decoration and the service are very warm. The food is also excellent for a bar. Our favorite dish, among a vast choice of salads, filet mignon, fish and pasta of all kinds, is the lobster mac & cheese. Every night, especially on weekends, the small room fills up quickly, people talk loudly, the atmosphere is friendly and good humored.

Park Slope's trendy parents swear by Union Hall! Surprisingly, even a little scary at night, the decor of the place looks like your grandmother's library: shelves full of books, fireplace, portraits hanging on the wall and leather armchairs. An ideal place to have a beer when the mercury never stops dropping in New York. In another room, concerts or burlesque shows take place every day. In a third room (the bar is 460 m²!), there are bocce courts, a game similar to petanque.

The advantage of this bar is that it organizes thematic evenings constantly, almost daily. All you have to do is learn about the website. This magnificent cinema opened in 1925 and was for decades the first cinema in the city, showing the latest releases. Then, falling into ruin, it was not until the late 1980s that it was rehabilitated. Today, it has been restored to its former glory and the non-profit association that runs it shows the great classics of Hollywood cinema. Perfect for an original evening, in a majestic context all in gilding. It was closed during the covid crisis, but should reopen shortly.

Atomic Liquors is a classic among Downtown bars, opening in 1952. Its name is a tribute to a piece of Nevada history. Located 60 miles from the atomic test site, the explosions could be seen from the roof of the building. The interior boasts a wealth of memorabilia from the era, and was also a popular spot for celebrities during the golden age of Las Vegas, including the Rat Pack, Barbara Streisand and Clint Eastwood. It remains a favorite of locals and tourists alike.

The Commonwealth at El Cortez is one of Downtown's most popular saloon-style bars. Even if the menu doesn't include as many drinks as other establishments in the area, this place lives to the rhythm of the music, with the regular presence of DJs. Commonwealth also has its own speakeasy (a kind of speakeasy dating back to Prohibition). Called the Laundry Room, it's well hidden and you'll have to look for the entrance to get there.

Gallery by day and club by night, it is the address not to be missed in the city if you are a fan of electronic music. A lot of big names have passed through here, even if we currently find more confidential quality djs at the turntables of this small and very trendy club with a sound system, Funktion One, worthy of the best Berlin establishments. Located in Masquerade Village, not far from the main entrance, this eponymous bar isn't the biggest or most fashionable in Las Vegas. But if you're staying at the Rio hotel, you can spend a few minutes here to take a break on the way back from a long day or in preparation for the early evening. All kinds of drinks and cocktails are available. For those who just can't get enough of gambling, the bar also has its own poker machines at the counter. Every Friday and Saturday evening, the bar hosts live concerts.

Tupper and Reed has a subdued atmosphere, with a brick wall and leather seats, for a most charming decor. On the menu of this bar installed in a former record shop with a gothic decoration, cocktails that have the reputation of being the best in town, made with passion by barmen who work here as masters. If you prefer to drink on the rocks, the spirits menu is very extensive and of excellent quality. The nightly music selections range from jazz and funk to electronic and rock. Not to be missed for a night of drinking and style.

This magnificent amusement park built in 1907 is the oldest in California and creates a very special atmosphere: there are very few amusement parks left on the West Coast of the United States. The roller coaster here dates from 1924 and the carousel from 1911. Other more modern attractions have been added for the pleasure of young and old. A great day out, while enjoying the beach that borders the park!

Tired of the traditional evenings around a beer to remake the world? Why not try shuffleboard, a game similar to curling where you have to place pucks with a broom in the center of a target. It is better to be four, six or eight to play, especially since the price of the court for one hour (50 US$) is to be shared between the players. The decoration, vintage, like an old bowling alley, is very successful and maintains a nice atmosphere.

In vogue in the United States as in Europe, escape rooms are legion in New York. BrainXcape, run by a Frenchman, offers two very different atmospheres and is not recommended for claustrophobics: a prison inspired by Alcatraz and a haunted hotel reminiscent of the film Shining! Immersion and thrills guaranteed! Unlike other escape rooms, you are not locked up with other players you don't know, but it is always more fun and cheaper to play with ten people - the maximum - than with two.

This store and bar was opened by beer enthusiasts, who can taste the beer on the spot or take it away. This beautiful building, opened just before the 1893 World's Fair, housed a movie theater for years. When the movie theater closed, the place sat empty for 40 years. It was in 2013 that it was purchased and renovated by a group of Chicago restaurateurs. It is now a concert hall with an eclectic lineup that will delight music lovers. The venue also hosts shows and performances. There's something going on almost every night! In the basement is the Punch House bar and John Dusek's Tavern.

The Holiday Club, with its 1960s look, exudes a kitsch atmosphere, right down to the website. For over 20 years, the place has been known for its excellent cocktails. But the main attraction is the themed evenings, which draw people from all over the city. It's karaoke on Wednesday, comedy show on Thursday, 1980s on Friday and 1990s on Saturday night. Plus, they've got a pool table, video games, jukebox and photo booth to immortalize the evening! Holiday Club also serves food.

Known for its theme nights and gay nights, this Lakeview nightclub is the place to be for crazy nights out in Chicago. In fact, it was voted best nightclub in the city by USA Today in 2019 and best gay bar in the country in 2021. Le Berlin has been keeping Chicago revelers dancing into the wee hours since 1983. Go to their website to see the line-up: from geek nights to drag queen parties to a Madonna night, you won't be bored! The music is eclectic, with a penchant for alternative electro.

Delilah's is a friendly bar in the Lakeview district, with a student atmosphere that's not to be sniffed at. The place doesn't look like much, but there's always a great atmosphere and, for those in the know, the establishment offers a huge selection of whiskies. Beer tastings are regularly organized. On a more cultural and festive note, well-known DJs are a regular feature of the program, and the venue also hosts numerous vernissages and film screenings.

The Hideout isn't just an indie music venue, it's also a place where poets, comedians and political apprentices gather to debate current affairs. It's one of the favorite bars and concert halls of Chicago's youth. Andrew Bird, Neko Case, Guided by Voices, The New Pornographers, Wilco, The Flaming Lips have all taken their first steps in this legendary venue. The stage is as small as the venue itself, but that's part of The Hideout's charm, and it's easy to appreciate its intimate feel.

Located just across from the comedy club The Second City, old sketches of local characters adorn the walls of Chicago's best dive bar, as well as numerous paintings. It must be said that the bar owner, Bruce Elliott, is also a painter in his own time. He had his 15 minutes of fame in 2008 with his nude of Sarah Palin standing on a polar bear skin, gun in hand. This was followed by a series of "political porn paintings" still visible on the walls of the harbour. An institution in the north of the city opened in 1958. Not to be missed.

There's no way to know that behind that big black door is the temple of the Chicago nightlife! Untitled Supper Club is a Michelin Guide 2021 award-winning restaurant, bar, club and concert venue. The whisky menu is the most varied in the city. Young people flock to this address to enjoy its many themed evenings, in its various rooms and atmospheres. During the week, there is happy hour, Absinthe night and the "Unbridled Night", an unbridled cabaret night. On Friday, it's DJ night and on Saturday, burlesque night. So many choices!

Located in the Water Tower, this theater was founded by Northwestern University students, including David Schwimmer, best known for playing Ross in the cult series Friends. Looking Glass Theatre Company aims to be at the forefront of American experimental theater. The mission of this small 270-seat theater is to encourage collaboration and artistic invention among its participants. Alice in Wonderland and The Arabian Nights have been reinvented here.

Inaugurated in 1891 by the Russian composer Tchaikovsky, the Carnegie welcomes the world's leading orchestras. It is highly appreciated by musicians for its curved structure which gives it exceptional acoustics. Major events took place there, such as the first performance of Un Américain in Paris in 1923, as well as concerts by jazz legends Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday. Even today, the programming still gives pride of place to classical music virtuosos, but leaves a few dates to artists like Jay-Z or Elton John.

Opened in March 2016, Metrograph has become the new rallying point for auteur film fans. This living space organized around the seventh art was designed in the image of the great Hollywood golden age film studios and houses not only two very beautiful cinemas, but also two bars, a restaurant, a bookstore and a candy and popcorn stand. Not to be missed, on the first floor, a window allows you to see the projectionist and the 16 mm camera, a format favoured by Metrograph, which leaves digital to multiplexes.

All superlatives were used to evoke the second most crowned musical in history with 11 Tony Awards. Created by composer, dancer and rapper Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton tells the story of the founding fathers of America, mainly Alexandre Hamilton, all on hip-hop and R'n'B songs. Speakeasy, these replicas of underground bars from the time of Prohibition, the Lower East Side is not lacking. But this one has the advantage of being quite unknown. It is located at the bottom of an art gallery. Even the front door is not easy to find. Look for a small handle on the left towards the bottom! The rather minimalist decoration plays the card of the unauthorized secret bar, and it's quite successful. One of the coolest places in New York where, above all, you won't have to wait an hour to get a table.
