Founded in 2006 in Irvine, Orange County, Veggie Grill is a true vegetarian institution in the United States. With nearly 33 locations across the country, it is the largest 100% plant-based restaurant in the country. Particularly in Los Angeles, this healthy way of eating is a big hit. And with good reason: the dishes are well executed, from Asian-style salads to hearty sandwiches, burgers and bowls. The choice is as vast as it is inspiring, and all at affordable prices.

Established in 2004, this family-run business has won countless awards, particularly for its clam chowder - a traditional soup of the northeastern U.S. and Canada - renowned throughout the Sonoma Coast, and indeed throughout California. Spud Point Crab Company is also famous for its crab cakes, served only on weekends. The owners, Tony and Carol Anello, fish their products with their own boat on the same day. For example, the famous BLT sandwich - Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato - is revisited in the form of TLT: Tempeh - an Indonesian product made from fermented soybeans - bacon, Lettuce, Tomato. This is Hayes Valley's new vegan restaurant, a must with its corner-block location, large bay windows and 70s revival signage. A few tables on the terrace precede a pleasant interior. The à la carte menu features vegan dishes, from breakfast to dinner. The ingredients are carefully selected and carefully composed. One of America's very first vegetarian restaurants. In 1979, a young Zen Buddhist decided to create a restaurant dedicated to fresh vegetables. Today, chef and author Annie Somerville is at the helm of Greens, offering refined, subtle cuisine inspired by Italy and India. You'll appreciate the beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge through the large picture windows. Even non-vegetarians will be delighted by the experience. Reservations are recommended, as this address has been celebrated by the New York Times.

If you have to try one and only one fast-food restaurant during your trip, no hesitation, go to In-N-Out Burger, a Californian chain created in 1948 by Esther Snyder. It's simple, when you enter it, you feel like you're in an American movie from the 50's with the red leather design sofas, the neon signs and the molded plastic outdoor furniture. From the kitchen point of view, its philosophy remains unchanged since the beginning: work with fresh and quality products. It's still a hamburger, but the result is delicious!

If you're looking for American-style dining , head for Mel's Drive in. This Californian fast-food chain was the setting for the Happy Days series. The decor is retro 60's, with colorful neon lights in front. Each banquette table is equipped with its own jukebox, inviting you to put in a coin. The only thing missing are waitresses on rollerblades! The menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, vanilla ice cream and marshmallows. You can also sit at the counter on comfortable retro chrome stools. Open very late. Other locations in Mission and Tenderloin.

The setting alone justifies a meal at this beautiful establishment. The main dining room overlooks the ocean, while the waves break at the foot of the Moonshadows. Although the a la carte dinner dishes are more expensive, we recommend coming here in the evening and asking for a table with an ocean view. On the menu: the cuisine of Venetian chef Andrea Bullo, who cleverly blends Californian flavors with more distant tastes from Asia and Italy. Special mention to the grilled swordfish, bursting with flavors.

The façade of Hotel Casa del Mar, extending along the beach of Santa Monica, attracts all the views. The cuisine takes advantage of California, French and Asian influences to prepare excellent seafood dishes. The windows, high from the floor to the ceiling, overlook the sea and offer a magnificent view to the sunset.

With its lifebuoys and marine trinkets hanging on the wall, the decor of this restaurant resembles that of a sea wolf den. Take time to sit at the bar, shucking Santa Barbara shrimp or enjoying lobster rolls with lemon aioli and celery, before being seated at your table. Aside from oysters and other seafood, Son of A Gun serves fine, meticulous preparations that remind us that we're near the ocean. Good value for money.

Located 7,5 miles east of Natchitoches, this restaurant specialises in the «Mediterranean» barbecue. The Americans rise to the rank of the barbecue, and Grayson's proves this by taking the challenge out of hand. This is one of the favourite places of the locals when the craving for meat is felt - and the neighbors do not make their own barbecue…

You'll have to drive 25 miles northeast of Moab to reach the Cowboy Grill Restaurant, but you won't regret the trip. In the privileged setting of Red Cliffs Lodge, this solid wood restaurant places you in the heart of the landscape and offers regional dishes cooked to perfection by chef K.C. Fazel: grilled salmon, Utah trout, fish tacos, barbecue, pork ribs, grilled ranch steak... not to mention a local wine list. BBQ Buffet Lunch on the terrace near the river between April and October.

This house divides the premises. Some of them see a middle restaurant, whose reputation would be somewhat unexplored, surely because of the rather slow and sometimes distracted service. The most popular version: «Build Your Hash»: flat dish in different types and cooking of potatoes, meat, cheese and eggs.

Tom and Spoon, two people in Venice, decided one day that they wanted to create a place where they could recover with local and organic products, while remaining on the beach. Venice Ale House was born some time later. This cozy restaurant serves healthy and organic cuisine, but also exquisite local and local beers. Ideal to admire the sunset on the beach during an appetizer between friends.

If you like fish and seafood - or culinary experiences that are out of the ordinary - don't miss this market. Established in 1925, Lobster was originally a small restaurant with 60 seats and up to types of fish. In 1989, the small shop leaves out to the great dam of the inhabitants. After a long decade, the Lobster finally reopened in 1999 and became a renowned place with history. The chowder clam is delicious and the seafood is well cooked, but it is true that you come here to admire the sun on the pier of Santa Monica.

There's noise, it's shown, there's always scenes at the bar, it's expensive and everyone has fun in Mastro's. For some years now, it's the number One location of Beverly Hills where it's good to be seen. This is largely due to its excellent cuisine. Steaks, cocktails, potatoes and spinach are all prepared with a master's hand and served in large portions. Here you can see movie stars and victims of plastic surgery.

The CUT restaurant is located inside the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, with the design of Richard Meier. The other big name associated with this site is the excellent chef, Wolfgang Puck, who has made up a menu of recipes from all over the world, all with steaks and seafood. Prices are expensive, but experience is worth a detour: The service is exceptional and the restaurant's clientele is the epitome of the Hollywood spirit.

Fresh fish at a decent price: this is the motto of this good restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. Completely blue with various illustrations, the exterior façade sets the tone: it is not because the restaurant chose to include the word " lobster " in its name that it is a stuffy place. A feeling confirmed by the interior decoration, giving the whole place an air of old sea wolves' shack. On the menu: sandwiches, sautéed calamari, the catch of the day, but also local products, with a special emphasis on chicken. Excellent address!

The specialty of this chain also established in La Jolla and Encinitas: the Lobster Roll, this famous sandwich originating from the East Coast. In concrete terms, it is a brioche bun filled with lobster, to which grilled cheese can be added. Lobster West offers two other versions: crab and shrimp. The "hole of the crayfish" puts of course the orange damsel in the honor. Here it is only a question of crayfish tails and the dose of chilli that is added to them. Of course, we have known cheaper places, but we must admit that the product is of first quality. And in Louisiana, a crawfish platter is never to be refused! The restaurant also offers shrimps in all their forms, fried oysters, gumbo, po-boys and burgers, Cajun fried fish and many other typical delights.

If we were to introduce you to Nico's Pier, we would have to talk about Nicolas, a Frenchman who arrived in Hawaii a few years ago. His success story began with a small shop where he simply sold fish dishes. With this success, he opened a restaurant on the fish market. The promise remains the same: the best fish on the island at the best price. His secret: he buys directly from the fishermen. Self-service at lunchtime; in the evening, the cuisine is more elaborate, with a menu where fish remains king!

Located across the street from Gibson's, Maple & Ash is a trendy alternative to the traditional American steakhouse. The clientele is younger and the décor is much more modern. Slightly less expensive than Gibson's, the cuisine is also more inventive and the seafood and fish menu is as important as the meat menu. It's up to you to see which atmosphere suits you best: noisy, trendy, with an original and tasty cuisine, or quiet, traditional, around a simple but equally tasty cuisine.

An excellent place for breakfast before starting the Loop tours. Enjoy custom pancakes, from the simplest to the most elaborate. Also on the menu are good eggs Bénédicte or French toast with fruit. For lunch, a wide choice of sandwiches is also available. A good place in a neighborhood where there is a desperate need, where you can eat fresh produce in a family atmosphere and at a low cost.
