The highly friendly and unpretentious place is decorated with paintings from unknown artists. We eat, in no way, sitting on chairs in straw. The dishes are classical and of good quality (i piatti brutti my buoni): artichokes cream, chicory cream, bucatini all homemade faits and gnocchi. As for dessert, the house's speciality is perfect for crystallized orange and red fruits.

This small, cosy restaurant in the centre of the district owes its name to the owner, it signor Franco, known from early childhood for its character under the name Dar Moschino. The atmosphere is that of a neighbourhood bistro, and it offers good, well-cooked Roman dishes (like the Roman chicken and the guts). Excellent value for money.

Pimpante and welcoming house near the Vatican Museum, this restaurant offers, as its name suggests, specialities from Abruzzo, including grilled lamb. The restaurant is tiny, and it is practically impossible to lunch in the winter for lack of space.

A few steps from Campo Sant'Angelo, a handful of tables, a cozy setting and the same menu for twenty years. A family cuisine that honors pasta, meats and grilled vegetables. We'll choose the ultra-rare beef filet, the spaghetti with clams, perfectly al dente , and the eggplant in saor (fried with onions), decidedly very vinegary. And for dessert, panna cotta or tiramisù, without going too far. An address that counts many regulars among its clientele. Only regret, the prices, a little too salty!

Between Palazzo Grassi and St. Mark's Square, a nice little place between a bistro and a wine bar, which clearly stands out among the mediocre restaurants in the area. We appreciate the counter covered with ciccheti and we can't resist the fried food and the nervetti alle cipolle (small veal nerves with onions). Spritz and white wine to accompany, it goes without saying.

Set in a historic residence in Piazza Duomo, what a setting! This gastronomic restaurant and wine bistro has converted its old cellar into a wine bar, while on the ground floor and terrace is the restaurant. Regional specialities revisited with elegance and lightness. The wine bar character of the place invites you to combine wine with food. For those who like to pick up a lot of little things, theaperitivo is particularly good. Ask for advice, as the wine list has almost 450 wine references!

Located in a former warehouse on a small square in the city centre, this friendly neighbourhood bistro offers tasty regional cuisine and a touch of the good old-fashioned style (excellent antipasti in particular). You can sit in one of the three tastefully decorated rooms, two of which are made of stone with vaulted ceilings, and in one of them you can see the cooks at work in their kitchen. Nice summer terrace for lunch under parasols. An address appreciated by the locals, which we can only recommend.

In the purest Neapolitan tradition! The atmosphere is very lively around the large wooden fire, where an army of pizzaioli hastens to manufacture and cook the pizza you chose on a very long list.

This small caterer sells a little of everything from arancinis to pizzas, focacce and flour. The prices are a little expensive, but the place remains convenient enough to buy a pizza to go (or a cold beer) before leaving to see the sunset in front of the sea.

Far from the beaten track, here is an address as we like them, discreet and picturesque at the same time. From the terrace to the interior room, everything is meticulously small and terribly pretty. So small that the chef Virgilio only proposes in his menu the arrivals of the market, for lack of having the place for too important reserves in his kitchen. His wife Larisa will serve you, depending on the ingredients of the day, a golden fritto misto overflowing from her dish, a delicious seafood risotto or scallops with asparagus.

It doesn't take long to realize that L'Ancora is a fishmonger like no other. Firstly, because its decor is at the cutting edge of design, with its polished steel counter, bulbous floor lamps and immaculate white walls and tables sculpted with contemporary reliefs. Secondly, because here you don't just buy or order a fish dish, you taste real raw or cooked creations on the spot. It's good, it's fresh, it's artistically presented and, of course, it's expensive.

A welcome alternative to the eternal midday panino, Cristina Perino's bistro-drugstore has been attracting new customers since it opened in 2010. In this small, pastel-toned shop, crates of fruit and vegetables are stacked to one side, without taking away from the stools and nooks where you can sit down. Enjoy home-cooked dishes such as lasagne au pistou, roast pork with sautéed potatoes, asparagus risotto, and why not try a slice of fruit tart? Price by weight.

Located in the heart of Vigevano, on the first floor of an old palace, this contemporary bistro has turned the page on the past to offer trendy, designer cuisine and surroundings. A fine selection of bottles behind the counter, the menu features traditional Lombardy recipes creatively revisited, with goose(oca) taking pride of place. Other specialties include risotto, duck with orange sauce and a delicious sbrisolona tart. A welcoming and convivial atmosphere, which in season takes up residence on the beautiful terrace.

Located in the Vomero, Osteria is a small family-run restaurant founded in 1913. It offers seven to eight tables and well-executed Neapolitan cuisine, including grilled sardines and meatballs in tomato sauce. Special mention for the bread, supplied by the same baker for 40 years. Dishes here change regularly, so there's no set menu. On the other hand, be prepared to eat well, because here the protocol of the Italian meal is followed to the letter, i.e. primo, secondo and dessert. You'll feel right at home, ideal for lunch.

At the entrance to Robecco, here's an address that for years has been very happy with the appetites of big and small. The specialities of Milanese cuisine are served in a very "Sunday meal" atmosphere. Start with a plate of affettati (local mixed charcuterie), to continue with fresh homemade pasta for asparagus, mushrooms, cheese and truffle. If you prefer meat, you will never be disappointed by the classics, including the Milanese porkchops, served with its small diced tomatoes. 

Always crowded, the Bologna has long attracted a local clientele that goes there for traditional Bolognese dishes in a beautiful setting. It's not a local restaurant, but the ingredients are tasty, the portions are plentiful and it's one of the only places in the center of Varese where you can eat well and for a reasonable price. As far as accommodation is concerned, it is a little more impersonal. However, the hotel's rooms can be used for one or two nights.

Here's a downtown trattoria with plenty of character. In the brick-arched dining room, tables with quaint checkered tablecloths, a grand piano, violins everywhere and a large portrait of Giuseppe Verdi. And after the tribute to music, it's the local culinary tradition that's celebrated: polenta with boletus mushrooms, Cremona cured meats, bollito and its mostarda and, to finish, a fine selection of cakes.

This restaurant has its name, as it offers a singular cave decor. You can also enjoy a wide range of pizzas.

An institution in Manarola, its location makes it a welcome spot for tourists arriving from the underground tunnel leading to the station. On the first floor is a welcoming bar, but it's upstairs where the action is. Exquisite and abundant, the cuisine exalts all the flavors of Cinque Terre: marinated anchovies as a starter, followed by grilled fish spiced up with the local petit blanc, or pasta with pesto and other flavors. The chef? A lovely little lady who knows how to handle home-grown produce. Bonus: the summer terrace.

This superb restaurant is run by the Ramella family, who have been in the business since 1946. It offers local specialties prepared and served with great care. It's a great opportunity to taste genuine Piedmontese cuisine. The setting is truly magnificent, and the tables stand out with their pretty crockery and silverware... You'll find all the charm of restaurants that focus on demanding, old-fashioned service, and such attention to detail at affordable prices has become so rare that you'll want to savor the moment.

Located in Piazza Grande in the heart of the historic centre, this sign is frequented at all hours of the day. The large lunch buffet attracts people for the quality and variety of its dishes; ideal for tasting some local specialities (cold cuts, tortelloni, pizzas, desserts, etc.). At aperitivo time, you sip your drink accompanied by good things to nibble on the large terrace facing the cathedral's chevet. Sunday brunch is gargantuan. A sure value, to satisfy all desires at any time.

We liked this good value restaurant. It serves fresh, freshly prepared food in a sunny setting. The bright yellow painted walls and the white mouldings show the effort of the owners to welcome their customers in a pleasant room. On the menu, fresh fish, antipasti, pasta and above all delicious pizzas which are a delight for the locals. The restaurant is authentic and the very welcoming staff gives it all its charm. Here, tourists and locals mix. Remember to book, it is often full!

A good option for quick and cheap meals.

Hats off to Marcello Trentini! This young chef is the first Turinese to have been awarded the Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe, a recognition followed by the award of a Michelin star. And for good reason: his restaurant in the Courtyard of San Maurizio has become one of the city's must-see gastronomic stops. Warm rabbit salad with hazelnuts, steak tartare with oysters, bouillabaisse, duck à la Marengo... If the portions of these delicious dishes are rather small, the prices are still far from the unaffordable prices of the starred tables. To be tried without delay.

This authentic brasserie, in the beautiful central square of the old town, is decorated in a warm and welcoming style: you'd almost think you were in your own kitchen! Everything is homemade, from the bread to the desserts, and the wine list is presented on an old-fashioned slate. A fine cuisine of Piedmontese specialties, with truffles in every sauce in season, but everything is delicious whatever you choose... Perfect welcome, very attentive service, unquestionably one of the best addresses in Vercelli!

A fine family-run restaurant created by a brother and his two sisters, offering fine local Biel cuisine with a twist. It is affiliated with the Slow Food movement, which favors short circuits. The zucchini flowers served with a parmesan crème brûlée are well worth the detour! The meat is very well cooked. Good wines too. At the back of the restaurant, you can admire the old ovens covered with ^18th-century earthenware tiles. Trendy, uncluttered decor, meticulous presentation and service, and a terrace under the arcades when the weather's mild.

A friendly restaurant-pizzeria in the town center. Its strong point is certainly the beauty of its large ^17th-century brick vaults inside, but in season, the terrace is also very pleasant! The pizza menu is certainly well-stocked and appetizing, but it would be a shame not to try one of the meat dishes or the primi ( risottis , for example), typical of the region, which are well worth a taste. Extraordinary wine list.

This osteria on Campo Santa Margherita has the warm atmosphere of an old-fashioned tavern. In a large room that looks like a canteen, you eat on large common wooden tables lit by the subdued light of Murano chandeliers. A nice mix of styles. But what makes this address unusual are its taglieri, large wooden boards in XL format covered with cold cuts and cheese. Moreover, the whole team is dynamic and welcoming, even speaking French and always trying to please the guests.

In addition to her two addresses in Testaccio and Ostiense, Angelina is also located in Trevi. The famous fountain is only a few blocks away, the romantic and vintage decor reminds us of a winter garden with watering cans and flower pots on the walls. The menu is a little bit ordinary, with the exception of the Angelina antipasto: a three-tiered display case filled with deli meats, cheese, fried foods and gratinated eggplants (melanzane alla parmigiana). The reputation of this trattoria, the oldest in Avellino, is well established. Behind a discreet front, in a large room with a sober decoration, you will be offered a traditional and tasty cuisine with the best local products. Antipasti in the form of buffet and tagliatelle with Irpinia summer truffle very generously served. The wine list of the region is very good; even the house wine, an Aglianico, is to be recommended.

At the head of this gastronomic establishment is Valentina Martone, known in Italy for her participation in various cooking shows on RAI. Here, all the richness of the Irpinia region is used to create a refined and inventive cuisine. The products are those of the restaurant's garden, the olive oil and flour are produced by the Martone family. All this is sublimated in traditional recipes revisited. The welcome given by Valentina's husband is charming. As for the wine, it remains at very reasonable prices.

Founded in 1958 by the current owner's grandfather, who was also named Vincenzo, this renowned restaurant offers traditional cuisine with a focus on pasta and seafood. We enjoyed the antipasti, the mussels and the maccheroni alla genovese which, as the name suggests, is a Neapolitan pasta dish with a sauce of meat and onions that simmers for hours. Cosy rooms and a pleasant little terrace overlooking the street. Nice wine list.

This trattoria, one of the oldest on the island, remains a safe bet. Set back from the busy Via Orlandi, you can enjoy a quiet lunch in the shade of an arbour. The bread and fresh pasta are homemade and the ingredients carefully selected. Try, for example, the rabbit fettuccine with cherry tomatoes and sheep's cheese, or the swordfish fettuccine with pistachios and lemon. All served on beautiful ceramic plates bearing the restaurant's name. Excellent tiramisu for dessert.

At the top of Piazza dei Mestieri, on the panoramic terrace, a different and authentic place awaits you for a journey into the world of flavours. The chef brings Mediterranean cuisine to the top, in a collaborative spirit, as everything is prepared by a team of 500 young enthusiasts ready to become the professionals of tomorrow. The menu is full of local specialities accompanied by a huge selection of artisanal beers, bottled two floors down.

The restaurant of the Ghedina lake is located in a fairy-tale place, which we advise you to reach on foot, through mountains and forests (see " Stroll > Ghedina lake). The main attraction of this place is the lakeside chalet, with its amazing blue-green colours in summer. A la carte, specialities of grilled meats (the most prestigious) on hot stone. On sunny days, a terrace also allows you to take a moment to relax and prolong your lunch and enjoy the magic of the panorama on the lake.

The Savoy Beach Hotel's two Michelin-starred restaurant reinterprets Cilento's cuisine in a modern and refined language, using high quality regional products. Bufala cheese is one of the stars of the menu, with buffalo meat deglazed with aglianico. Seafood products are also well represented. The wine list is extensive, with 500 Italian and foreign labels. And to end the meal in all lightness, try the scoop of pistachio ice cream drizzled with extra virgin olive oil: a treat!

The small façade with aluminium frames is more reminiscent of a local sports café front, but once inside, the charming staff will put you right at ease. La Locanda wants to offer its guests a simple and tasty cuisine, a popular cuisine of yesteryear, with fresh and seasonal products. Good assortments of antipasti with local cheeses and cold cuts, pasta, meat and fish dishes, such as the gallinella all'acqua pazza, a fish with an ugly face but firm white flesh, cooked in court bouillon.

A detour to Vallesaccarda is a must for a fine gastronomic experience at this starred restaurant run by the Fischetti family. Michelina in the kitchen, assisted by a professional and friendly team, seeks to rediscover the flavours of yesteryear which she models with great delicacy and virtuosity. An assortment of old-fashioned soups, refined meats and magnificent starters, with ravioli with burrata, aromatic herbs and black truffle from Bagnoli Irpino, served under a bell. Beautiful desserts and mignardises.

Restaurant and wine bar housed in an ancient cellar dug into the tufa rock that once belonged to the Girolamini complex. The setting is picturesque, with shelves of wine bottles, and the terrace facing the church of San Giuseppe dei Ruffi is just as pleasant. Ideal at lunchtime or as an aperitif to enjoy a Campania wine accompanied by an assortment of cheeses and cured meats. But you can also enjoy traditional Neapolitan cuisine, sometimes revisited according to the chef's mood.

Notizia's pizza has to be earned: it's a long way by public transport, and buses are rare after 10pm... If you have a car, however, you'll have no trouble parking. At La Notizia, we cultivate the concept of "gourmet pizza", topped with high-quality ingredients combined in original combinations. Ricotta di bufala, Cetara anchovies, buffalo sausage... the raw materials used, far from concealing the dough under a flood of flavours, actually enhance its taste and texture.

Nestled on the heights of the city, facing the Aldo Acquarone park, this typical restaurant with a guinguette look is not lacking in charm! We like its retro look with its open-air terrace. In the summer, it's crowded and it's better to reserve. Indeed, the pizzas prepared here are delicious. But the must is the pinsa: an even more succulent preparation with quality ingredients. In a young and relaxed atmosphere, the idea is to devour several slices while sipping a beer. Traditional ice cream (homemade) to die for!

A table that goes off the beaten track, to discover the traditions of local cuisine but revisited by the chef's personal touch. A taste experience completed by the perfume of aromatic plants grown on the terrace, jealously guarded by the gardener and picked by the chef... What a charm! Delicate and refined atmosphere with soft music to accompany the evening. For lovers of these recipes, it is possible to learn their secrets by participating in cooking lessons organized by the chef.

Not far from the port of Gorino, this restaurant will delight lovers of fish and seafood: the products here are impeccably fresh and you can taste everything that the surrounding nature has to offer. Abundant platters of grilled fish, spaghetti that disappear under the quantity of mussels, antipasti of raw and cooked seafood, and of course the inevitable eel. Everything is good, served in generous portions, and in a good mood! The establishment also offers pizzas for those who have had enough of fish.

The Trovato brothers (Gaetano in the kitchen and Giovanni in the dining room) opened their restaurant in 1982, surrounded by the splendid Tuscan hills. This contemporary table, awarded two Michelin stars, is elegant, masterful and precise. The compositions are ultra gourmet, like the suckling pig of Cinta Senese, a great classic of the house. Giovanni, at the service, shows an unfailing professionalism. The wine list is also impressive. In short, very good and a justified addition for such quality.

A double change of scenery in this agriturismo, because not only is it located on an island in the lagoon, but it is also in the middle of the countryside! In fact, this bucolic restaurant with a romantic soul is located in the southern part of the Lido, surrounded by cultivated land. At the table, you will find vegetables from the orchard and fruit from the day's catch, from the antipasto of the sea to the artichoke salad, including grilled sea bass and sea bream. To finish the meal, an ice cream or a pie and a coffee? The Garzette also has a few rooms.
