Almost a Garden of Eden. The baths and gardens offer a very luxurious, magical setting. The entrance is splendid, with ceramic consoles and a decorated wooden coffered ceiling. The building dating from 1913 finds its inspiration in the ancient forms and combines the past with modernity. A beautiful solid wood staircase leads you to the Roman baths, ceramic arcades and frescos representing ancient life. Also Russian, Finnish, and Oriental sauna.

It is an artificial lake built in the years 1934-1936, at the location of an ancient marsh region. This project, already on the agenda of the city of the Weimar Republic (1918-1933), was taken over by the Nazis, mixing the cult of great works, the happiness of the people through work, healthy entertainment and patriotic art. The very controversial column and sculpture standing on the shore of the lake is a memory of this period: at the base of the column, the threatening eagle of Germany, and the empty circle of the swastika.

Once outside, you must take a walk in the garden to discover its fabulous caves, the most famous of which is the Blaue Cave.

This beautiful forest has its large trees and water bodies in the west of the city. Ideal for cycling tours.

The forest is part of the "green belt", called Äußerer Grüngürtel. In 1895 it was planted on the estate of the old Kitschburg manor house. With three artificial ponds, the forest is highly appreciated for its enchanting atmosphere and possibilities for relaxation.

The Jewish ritual baths (the Mikwe) of Speyer date from 1128, and are in an excellent state of preservation. The pit is located 10 m underground; it is reached by a small stone staircase, which plunges into the cool and humid depths of the baths. The adjoining synagogue did not resist the great fire of 1689 (the same one that destroyed the cathedral); only a few sections of the walls remain. The Jewish community of Speyer is rebuilding today, with the arrival of Russian-Germans; there are 80 of them.

It is the only national mountain park in Germany. Fauna and flora are protected there. Founded in 1978 and with a surface area of 210 km ², this park is of beauty to none other.
