The Großer Arber is Bavaria's highest mountain outside the Alps. It reaches an altitude of 1,455 metres.
At 1,456 meters above sea level, the Großer Arber is the highest peak in the Bavarian Forest and the highest peak in Bavaria outside the Alps. There are many ways to discover it: climbing, boat trips. In winter, you can go skiing. Most of the Großer Arber and surrounding forest areas are owned by the Princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. As early as 1949, they commissioned the construction of the first aerial tramway, which, after many renovations and modernizations, is still in operation today.
