Inspired by the Notting Hill Carnival in London, this festival is dedicated to all cultures and communities living together in Berlin. Dozens of trucks and hundreds of musicians and dancers form a euphoric and colourful procession that draws thousands of spectators and onlookers into Kreuzberg, Berlin's multicultural district. Numerous food-trucks showcase the world's cuisines. For more than twenty years, this carnival has been celebrating diversity and defending an open society.

The Striezelmarkt market is an enchanting institution that attracts many visitors from Germany and around the world every year. Small wooden chalets offer a thousand entertainment: local gastronomy (we have to taste the famous Christmas cake, the Christstollen), the hot wine of the spices (Glühwein), Saxon crafts, Christmas decorations of wood coming from the Ore Mountains, near Dresden… a Christmas dream for children… as for adults.

Over 120 exhibitors invite you to discover a variety of treasures and delights. The cries of Gigili-Geister, witches and Mooswaldwiibli ring out, evoking the spirit of this carnival. For several days, the streets of Freiburg are transformed into a theater of color and laughter. The 34 carnival brotherhoods roam the city, decking the streets with extravagant costumes and sometimes terrifying masks. Confetti and sweets twirl, while brass bands and drums create a symphony of rhythms for this traditional festival.
