The most beautiful natural sites to discover South Korea

This park on the other side of the creek that will throw itself into the sea has as its main attraction a beautiful waterfall. It falls 22 m high below the road bridge in the middle of cliffs in a 21 m deep basin. Two other cascades follow before the creek flows 2 km further into the sea. The Seonim bridge 128 m long over the gorge seems to be out of a scene of Alice in Wonderland. We have a pretty view on the throat. There is also a pavilion that overlooks everything.

It's a small white sand beach with rocks. water is clean and beautiful. There are not many housing units. There are dining huts in the summer on the beach.

There are around Donghae 2 pleasant beaches: Mangsang to the north and Choam to the south, with restaurants, yeogwans, minbaks, etc. You can also drive from the beaches to the south towards Pohang, or to the north towards Gangneung and Sokcho.

Very pleasant beach with the advantage of being much less busy than the other beaches in the vicinity.

The bay is almost closed on Sangju beach. It turns out to be very large but, being considered, crowded with the smallest sunshine. There are only minbaks to sleep there.

These beaches are not far from the city (Gampo, the main village, is 30 km from Kyeongju), but they are rather disappointing, which is a pity, because the coast is pretty, with its rocks bursting with beautiful water and its pine forests. From north to south we meet Oryu (grey sand), Gampo (idem, and dirty in addition), Daebon, Munmu (dirty), Bonggil (nuclear power station), Gwanseong (galets). But finally, if you really want to swim, there is all along the coast of hotels, yeogwans, restaurants in abundance.

This national park is the only one in the country that offers a mix of mountains and ocean. It is divided into two sections: the Oebyeonsan coastal area and the Naebyeonsan inland mountainous area. In addition to its stunning nature, the main attractions are the Gaeamsa, Naeamsa, Naesosa temples; the Jikso waterfalls and the Guam-ri dolmens. Without exaggeration, this park offers the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets in the whole country! It is a great pleasure to hike there.

Designated a natural monument in 1962, this forest is unique. Indeed, it was built by the inhabitants of the area nearly 300 years ago to protect themselves from winds and waves that were sometimes a little too violent. It is an unusual experience to be surrounded by hundreds of trees while having the sea just a few steps away. It is a famous spot for its sunrises and sunsets and many people flock there during the New Year.

In addition to being very long (approximately 2 km), Seopori beach is clean and has white sand. Surrounded by pine forest, it is an ideal place to bathe and relax. A really pleasant stop, and quite easily accessible.

In the heart of the Sinbulsan mountain (1,209 m) nestles this little jewel of a waterfall that waters the valley with streams in which one can bathe without any problem in summer. It takes 45 minutes to reach it, a rather intense ascent, but the effort is quickly forgotten, as the site is a true earthly paradise. On the way it is not uncommon to come across squirrels who will keep you company for a few metres. Once at the waterfall you have the choice between going back down or continuing the ascent.

On the road to Mageumsan is this lake which is a reserve of migratory birds. According to the season, the shores of the lake host hundreds of remote cranes and other rare birds in Korea from Siberia. It is better to be equipped with binoculars. The surrounding area is not ugly but not wonderful. Above all, the lotus fields that make a beautiful landscape early in the summer will be noticed.

HYEOPJAE AND GEUMNEUNG. This white sandy beach has beautiful waters, and the small village is nice. In the open sea, you can see the island of Biyangdo. Nearby, the Geumneung beach with clean sand is quite large. In the surroundings you can find accommodation and food.

IHO. Its black sand has made it famous. It is the closest to Jeju city and the airport.

GWAKJI. It is a small white sand beach with rocks; the water is clean and beautiful.

At only 510 m above sea level, it is not the largest of the mountains. This makes it the ideal ascent for Sunday hikers who are put off by the long, steep slopes. This mountain has always been considered the spiritual guardian of the Yeosu Peninsula. In older times, it was used for collecting prayers. At the end of March and beginning of April, a festival is held here, during which activities take place such as a ritual in honor of the mountain god, a photo contest and the election of Miss Azaleas.

Along the sea this park mixes charming ochre cliffs, blue azure waves and a green nature. In season, magnolias and camellias are also on display. Via a bridge you can go to a small island, ideal for taking pictures but which becomes mystical. On a small rocky mass in the open sea, there are the ashes of Queen Jaeui, wife of the dragon Munmu-Wang. In Gyeongju are the king's.
