The former Saha Forest Camp has become Akiba Lodge. Each bungalow is designed to blend into the rejuvenating landscape of the verdant Hautes Terres forest. They are comfortably furnished and decorated with simplicity and elegance, featuring Malagasy handicrafts. All bungalows have a private terrace overlooking the forest, where you can sometimes hear the Indri Indri singing. The Akiba Lodge team strives to find the best balance between the needs of the community and the sustainable conservation of Mada's biodiversity. We love it!

In the heart of the historic centre of Tana (the Queen's Palace is a stone's throw away), this magnificent century-old building houses 5 suites of refined luxury, furnished with antiques and antique trinkets but without compromising on modern comfort. All are different and patinated with the same old-fashioned charm: a gilded iron bed for the English Room, antique maps of Madagascar for the Explorers' Room, an Italian bed and a marble console for the Baroque Suite... The lodge is nestled in a small cove. Good value for money for this recent establishment. Friendly staff. The 10 bungalows in restanques to the sea offer a magnificent view. Some have a kitchen. On the private beach you will have the possibility to contemplate the bridal parade of humpback whales in season (June to September). The coral underwater funds in front of the lodge are full of colorful parrot fish, clown fish, torpedoes, groupers and sergeants. The lodge offers you the PMT equipment, it also organizes your day or half-day scuba diving (baptisms or confirmed). Possibility to book packages of dives. And a day at Ile aux Mats by boat (on-site lunch). They are also able to organise an excursion to the east of the island + settlement visits + crossing the mangrove in canoe and walk on the beach of ampanihy. Day in 4 x 4 north. Light day drive to Ile aux Mats through the pirate cemetery and the botanico park.

Simple but correct bungalows with private health (kapok shower but can heat water). If you're looking for a. with a generator, you can watch the TV and even a karaoke.

On a plot of 5 hectares, 14 spacious, comfortable and very well decorated bungalows, 10 by sea with private terrace and private health, plus 1 mini-suite bungalow and 1 family bungalow. Nice site on the road to Ramena. The bungalows, pleasant and intimate, have a small private terrace. The beautiful saltwater pool, with its panoramic view of the sugar loaf of Diego Bay, flanked by its small waterfall, is a considerable asset. Small bar area (try the delicious basil mojito), cosy and relaxing Spa, handicraft store, plus the restaurant La Fleur de Sel offering quality cuisine. A reading and TV area next to the pool is planned. Didier has taken over this address, appreciated by travelers.

The cheapest hotel in the city: notice to tight budgets! This is not the great luxury, but it will be good for adventurers.

The Betsileo Country Lodge is now managed by Adafi, a former Malagasy guide who is as dedicated as he is professional. A beautiful hotel on the edge of the water, a little away from the other structures of the village. The 13 bungalows with private terraces offer the most welcome comfort for the price. Solar panels allow access to hot water and electricity at any time (taken in bungalows). Furthermore, the panoramic restaurant/bar serves specialities based on tasty fresh fish. In the programme: water activities, outings in canoes, excursions to zébu, diving, massages…

A table d'hôtes open almost every day (Tuesday to Friday and Sunday evenings) offering tapas, pizzas and grilled meats, as well as bread, baked in a wood-fired oven, to eat in or take away; a pretty, pleasant and naturally ventilated house on the heights of Andilana, with four independent bedrooms, to rent together or separately, and a campsite with huts and safari tents. Not to mention the warm welcome offered by Jean-Louis, who also offers sailing excursions with his own trimaran.

The whole is suitable and satisfies a clientele routarde who appreciates its situation, on the lagoon, its cleanliness and its (relative) amenities.

In a most majestic setting, with the Isalo massif in the background. We have the choice between small and simple paillotes, but romantic, and well decorated bungalows, which are very correct for the price. Private toilets in all rooms, small solar light in case of breakdown. The restaurant is pleasant and the food is good, with fresh homemade pasta at attractive prices, cooked on charcoal. At the request of the customers, "grill party" followed by a "dust ball" in the open air. We like it!

A structure of 22 rooms (of which 11 are superior) and 19 villas on 6 ha (in total the domain is 22 ha). A stone's throw from Mangily, a charming address. The experience of the Mauritian owner is evident in the superb restaurant with its ethno-chic atmosphere, the magnificent swimming pool nestled in the middle of palm trees, the bar by the sea (open to the public), the well-decorated bungalows with good comfort. As for the table we recommend, it is possible to have your meal in the dining room, on the terrace or on the waterfront below. Many activities are proposed.

Andrea is a fisherman, he always has nice stories to tell. The bungalows are very simple, but correct: no electricity in particular. All the travelers who have stayed there are full of praise for this establishment. And I can tell you that Mr. Andrea is a big part of it! In the evening, he gathers his little world around a common table, in a hut filled with heterogeneous objects, we eat very well there and it is super friendly. We know some who thought they would only spend two nights, and finally stayed more than a week!

A hotel of good standing: 44 rooms of 35 m ², plus two suites of 70 m ² with jacuzzi tub. All rooms are air-conditioned with mini bar, safe, satellite TV and WLAN. Private parking. Billiards, conference room and wellness area during our visit in 2017. Sky Garden restaurant offers good international cuisine with Italian specialities. An interesting choice for businessmen or wealthy travellers.

Without doubt, the most comfortable address of the south Malagasy. Twenty-four bungalows on the seafront, which combine wood and stone, and whose interior breathes the charm (crafts) and the savage calm of this corner of the world. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Spa, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, windsurfing, motorboat, fishing-rod, boat and quad, diving club and various walks are offered… A high-quality and well-maintained address that integrates seamlessly into the environment. In short, an ideal stay for honeymoon or lovers of beautiful places.

With the Sun Beach Hotel, Palmiro offers some of the most comfortable rooms in town. They are simple, well appointed and spacious, and all have a small private terrace overlooking a lovely garden. In addition, the hotel has direct access to the beach. Very good restaurant service at Chez Cuccu (a quarter of a century old!), to be enjoyed in the dining room or in the pretty tropical garden. Ultra-sympathetic reception what is more: a good address in all points of view, we recommend!

Beautiful house built according to the regional architecture, of wood, bricks and stones, away from the city, in edge of rice field. The rooms are spacious, sunny, neat, sober and colorful.

Room 15, the largest, offers a superb view on the rice field. Excellent option for those who want to stay in the quiet and in contact with nature. You can also eat very well, the house offers lunch and dinner upon reservation. The hotel can also organize hiking or mountain biking tours and take care of your train reservations.

A little away from the village, the Hibiscus bungalows are located in a 3 ha park with lush vegetation, a stone's throw from a long deserted beach. Very simple, they are a good option for small budgets. The restaurant offers Malagasy, Oriental, Italian and Spanish specialities. The hotel offers kayaks and board games. Surf spot at 200 meters for amateurs. Possibility to rent scooters.

Comfortable and spacious bungalows, equipped with a terrace with hammock, scattered in a vast garden populated by euphorbia, aloe and sisal. Solar electricity (not 24 hours a day), there are 4 bungalows equipped with electrical outlets (do not use a hair dryer though). The site invites you to relax and read, sitting on the sea... you can enjoy the beautiful view of the sunset from the main structure, which says better to have an aperitif, meals and time to live! In a very pleasant table d'hôtes atmosphere. Eric (CMAS instructor) and Carole are attentive hosts, lovers of Africa, they have travelled a lot and their experiences in the world of diving reassure. Very interesting price-quality ratio.

Activities. Excursions Nosy Ve, Nosy Satrana, snorkeling, scuba diving, whale watching, mangrove viewing, surfing, kite surfing, fishing, 4x4 rides, motorcycle.

Beautiful guest house overlooking the sea (small beach below) with breathtaking views over the bay. Juvet offers classical excursions in the bay, as well as fishing trips (he is fisherman) and fisherman. Cool atmosphere, and the rooms are very good for the price. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Analatsara is a place where people can meet and exchange ideas, while respecting each other's tranquillity and the environment. All the units are different: the largest can accommodate 6 people in 3 independent bedrooms. Two others also have a veranda or terrace: one, original and poetic, is even set in the trees! Private bathrooms except in the "Lagon" bungalow. Jean-Pierre offers a convivial table d'hôte formula - a real treat! Weekly folklore evenings. Wifi, solar electricity 24 hours a day.

Jean-Louis Charpentier (a Franc-Comtois) knows the region as his pocket. He opened a small hotel with 6 rooms with a very good restaurant and a well stocked bar. And this is undoubtedly the best source of information across the region. You can see with him to rent a 4 x 4 to Fort-Dauphin if needed. Congratulations. 

A set of very good quality, offering all the amenities of use. Good restaurant with a terrace open on the street, popular in the evening. Duty free shop and souvenir shop. A very central address and well equipped for business people. 

A modern and equipped hotel-restaurant, perhaps one of the most comfortable structures in the region. Immaculate rooms and soothing comfort. Terraces with panoramic view over the sea. Even the smallest rooms are nickel. Catering service. Many activities (baleines, quad rentals, diving…), but the need is fishing to the wholesale, the lighthouse activity of the house. Marcel is a non-standard person. The location is calm and will delight all those who seek comfort in a privileged environment. To discover!

A beautiful establishment located on the main street. The whole place is elegant and very well kept. Spacious rooms and suites with all the comfort of a four-star hotel. Small preference for those on the pool side, quieter. We love having breakfast on the terrace on the street side, from where we can see all the activity of the city. The swimming pool surrounded by palm trees has several pools with bar and restaurant service. Possibility of organizing excursions with Evasion Sans Frontière which has an office there. A local institution that we recommend!

At the entrance to the city, a stone's throw from the taxi-brousse station, this established address offers charming bungalows and even more comfortable rooms, scattered in a large, relaxing garden. Carved objects are scattered around, the place has charm and is well maintained. The food is very good (zebu filet, lobsters...). The bar is popular with the residents thanks to the welcome, the availability and the great kindness of Sophie and Emeric, the young owners. As a bonus, there is a nice swimming pool with a bar and a shaded terrace for the guests!

In 2017, the warm Jeannot and Antoinette, the owners of the Antemoro hotel in Manakara, took over the management. An address in an exceptional location: overlooking the beach of Libanona, the 6 bungalows on the hillside offer undoubtedly the most beautiful view of Fort-Dauphin. The sunsets are idyllic. The whole is warm, peaceful and very comfortable (with free wi-fi), always well maintained. The hosts will be able to advise you on all kinds of activities, especially water sports (surfing and kitesurfing). A charming establishment, appreciated for its true value.

Since 2009 this address boasts an idyllic situation, on a beautiful beach of fine sand (probably one of the most beautiful of the island), here no urchins, corals or vase, but sand! Gilles and Fabiola receive you in the heart of a natural park of 6 hectares between sea and primary forest. Despite the new asphalted road, there is a tranquil tranquility, breathtaking landscapes, and the stage will be used to embark on beautiful walks in the surroundings (in quad or on foot for example). The large interior bar is superb and the quality kitchen is fresh and sought-after. The eight semi-hard bungalows are comfortable, well kept and delicately laid facing the sea, on a coconut beach, sufficiently far away from each other to keep privacy (green space between bungalows). The right side of the beach looks like Seychelles! Among the structures a perfect bungalow for families. Hot water, solar electricity 24 h/24, and two original exterior showers (pirogue repo). During an excursion from the south of the island, it is pleasant to enjoy lunch on the outdoor terrace while at the same time enjoying the water jet of the whales (in season). All traditional activities and visits are offered. Gilles takes you aboard his boat, even to the largest bay in Madagascar, the bay of Antongil, count 1.30 a. m., possible from October to January (if no cyclones), good franquette, rigolade, fishing and swimming in the program!

Quiet and secure property, between the city centre and the beach. The whole is a good bill, the rates are consistent. Welcome.

A youth hostel in the 2 bodies of wooden and raffia buildings which houses a few nicely decorated double rooms and 2 dormitories for 4 with shared bathrooms.
