An original chocolate production created in 2022 by Christine Georges-Pauget. From the pod to the packet, it's just a short step to discover chocolate nuggets "Made in Madagascar"! At the boutique, you can taste and buy a myriad of variations based on Grand Cru cocoa beans from the Sambirano valley. Vanilla, green aniseed, cardamom, combava, mandarin, natural pepper... these are genuine 78% cocoa nuggets with enchanting spices, to be enjoyed without moderation.

Very interesting: or how to make a candy! The dough is heated, spread (we add the desired aromas, ginger included) and then malaxée. When she becomes tough, the craftsman gives him shape. No more than 15 minutes to prepare for a few seconds of gourmet pleasure!

Located outside the city center, but close to it, in a green setting on the edge of a lake, this modern, secure and air-conditioned shopping center houses some thirty stores in a single-story gallery: leather goods, jewelry, leisure, culture, clothing, optical, health, beauty, telephony, food... You can stroll around quietly, in the calm of an airy space, far from the urban chaos and ambient pollution.

For a continental breakfast or a soft break: Pastries, pastries, café Segafredo (yes yes!), homemade ice cream, and smiling welcome.

Jérôme Bergon, founder of the cheese dairy, offers cheeses made by craftsmen (raclette, gruyère, reblochon, bleu, crottin, fromage blanc, old millstone 9 months of maturation and monk's head...) with 100% Malagasy milk, while respecting French processes. A most picturesque market, where it is strongly recommended to come accompanied. Everything was uncovers: precious wood (probably contraband), crafts of all kinds, precious stones or semi-precious… A true bazaar of the exotic. The price of a high hair, however, breaks with the local atmosphere.

Next to Hotel Serena, in the middle, a kind of well-stocked mini-supermarket, a little expensive perhaps.

The Beekeeper trains farmers in beekeeping to provide an alternative source of income to cutting wood for charcoal. They produce pure, traceable honeys with exotic and unique flavors. The honey house is the place where the honey is processed after being harvested in the four corners of Mada. The honey house works 24 hours a day during the harvesting period, the rest of the time it is put into jars for local sales or preparation for export. Tourists are welcome in the workshop, also to taste the honey (yum) and of course to buy some!

A little way from the center, this market is undoubtedly one of the most authentic in the capital. It has, as they say, "a soul". It also offers the best value for money in Malagasy handicrafts. The choice is vast. But handicrafts are only a small part of this huge, labyrinthine market. It's a small town in itself, with vendors selling vegetables, spices, sambos and a thousand other things.

The market of Isotry is undoubtedly one of the most popular of Tana. It is also one of the oldest, since it was "born" in 1938! It was called "Tsena sabotsy" (Saturday market). It is divided into several areas: fabric market, fruit market (especially from the east coast), fish market (small smoked shrimps, salted fishes...), and some handicrafts (especially based on recuperation and natural fibers). Quite calm, but a certain caution is required. This is also the place where you will be able to find possible stolen objects!

The store displays hundreds of products on shelves that go up to the ceiling. This small grocery store introduces travelers and inhabitants of the capital to products made from plants, vegetables and fruits, most of which are unique and of which at least 12 new products are published every month. As a gift, souvenir or simply for the love of flavors and scents, you can buy homemade jams cooked in a cauldron, spices, natural cosmetics, chutneys, achards, condiments, mustards etc.

It is the artisan ice cream shop of the tourist street of Ambatoloaka, held by Sophie, a sympathetic Malagasy-Norman. Cute as a sweet break, with a colorful garden in front with a small beach and a kiosk, from where to watch the passers-by. Choice of about twenty flavors, in season: guava, strawberry, passion fruit, mango, soursop; in the year for example: pineapple, coconut, lemon, tamarind, coffee, chocolate. Also waffles, pancakes, milkshakes and freshly squeezed fruit juice. We tested the Madagascar chocolate and combava ice cream, we love it!

The traditional Dzama rum, made from molasses, is undoubtedly the best of Madagascar, the only one to be declined in several products (white rums, amber rums, old rums, arranged rums, creams of rums, punches...). The particularities of Dzama rums are linked to its history and to the specificities of the Malagasy terroir: they are made from sugar cane growing in the north of the island and possess unique aromatic properties - notably notes of cloves, ylang-ylang and vanilla, plants growing in the middle of the cane.

Spacious and dapper, extended by a terrace and a large room in restful and modern tones, it is the only European-style bakery in Nosy Be. A counter where you can buy different varieties of breads, as well as pastries, homemade pastries, artisanal ice creams, quiches, pizzas, sandwiches... to take away or consume on the spot with an iced tea, a freshly squeezed fruit juice, a small coffee taken on the run. After the hustle and bustle of the market, the place is a refreshing stopover.

A chocolate planter in Madagascar, this emblematic company was founded in 1940. From traditional creations to unexpected combinations, La Chocolaterie processes only the finest cocoa from its own plantations. A myriad of its products can be found in this boutique, as well as in many other outlets around the country. Committed to the Pur Beurre de Cacao label, the chocolate factory uses only Madagascar cocoa butter in its production, with no chemical treatments in the processing. An exceptional product that is the pride of the country!

The hard discount brand is well established in Tana and has several stores. It is the good address to make shopping at reduced prices. You can find a large choice of products: meats, vegetables, groceries, baby products, household products... You can find Leader Price stores in all Madagascar: Ankadimbahoaka, Andranomena, Ankorondrano, Majunga, Tamatave, Ambatobe, Antaninarenina, Price Nosy Be Hell-Ville, Anosizato. Located in the Millenium building, in the heart of the vazahas' residential area, L'Art Blanc is a bakery, a local grocery store, with an Italian tendency, which offers traditional breads and pastries, and a restaurant. You can taste artisanal ice creams of very good quality to take away or to consume on the spot, in the small tea room. The latter is a small pleasant room, in a cosy atmosphere where one can spend a pleasant moment. Some even say that it is the best bakery of Tana!

Le Gourmet is first and foremost a sales outlet for exceptional products imported or selected in Madagascar: delicatessen, tea, coffee, chocolate, bakery, artisanal patisserie (the traditional baguette is worthy of the best French bakeries!), as well as luxury products (Caviar de Rova, for example!). There's also a pleasant tearoom area where you can enjoy your meal on the spot. There's also a good selection of mixed salads. Le Gourmet has two other addresses in Tana: Ivato and Viventa Plaza Ambatobe.

Opened in 2012, this shopping centre is undoubtedly the most luxurious in Madagascar and the largest in Tana with its 80 stores. Shops of all kinds (prices as in France or almost) and "food court" (restaurants/snacks/fast food area). A corner of Europe in the middle of the rice fields....
