Since 1976, a family tavern has been located in one of the pedestrian streets of the town. This restaurant offers fishermen's and local cuisine, the two identities of Istria. On the menu, friendly formulas, served on a tray to share, grilled meats accompanied by a white truffle sauce, with southern vegetables. The same goes for fish, seafood, garlic mussels with chips, half a lobster or a whole one, fresh pasta dishes, lasagne with scampi and shellfish.

When you enter through the main gate of the historic city, take the second street on the left to find the tavern, between the ramparts and the old facades. Its terrace is a pleasant setting to enjoy a romantic lunch or dinner. The family had started by opening a konoba to give people a taste of the farm's specialties. Traditional cuisine with meats roasted under the peka (bell simmering on the ash), cold cuts(pikatić, the Dalmatian andouille, prosciutto) and grilled vegetables. Baked bread is perfect for goat cheese, oil and sauce dishes, accompanied by the house wine. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a small glass of alcohol, the welcome rakija. At the foot of the fortress, in a bucolic setting near the river, this restaurant-grill often organizes receptions and weddings in the open air or under a marquee. Close to the station and set back from the seafront promenade, this fast-food restaurant is peaceful and well placed. For on-site dining, there's either an indoor dining room or a shaded terrace, which is elevated above the street. The menu features classic Japanese and Asian street food: gyozas, ramen noodles, poke bowls with avocado/edamame/soy salad and mochi for dessert. The chef accommodates food allergies, while service is discreet and prompt. In direct competition with the other well-known address, Chili Fusion Streetfood (Ribarski Trg).

Even in Istria, a good Bosnian meal is not to be sniffed at. Here, the formula is simple: we're in a grill restaurant just like in Sarajevo. To eat in, there's a large terrace or an interior room with a refined decor and beautiful oriental carpets. Customers mostly order the grilled meat platter, with lamb chops, sausages and ćevapčići spiced with herbs, accompanied by fries, salad and homemade bread (for two people). 19 km from Cavtat, near Gruda, in the middle of the forest and yet so close to the coast, this traditional restaurant is installed in an old mill. The Konavoski Dvori is a good place to eat by the river in good weather and taste the local products of Konavle. On the menu, Dalmatian ham and goat cheese, grilled lamb and veal, kebabs, freshwater trout and local wines. All served on a plate simply presented but brought by waitresses wearing the folk costume.

This good family restaurant and its terrace are perched at the top of a stone staircase and decorated with fishing nets. Just the setting makes you want to. But we come especially to Konoba Peggy for its traditional cuisine that the chef in the kitchen knows how to sublimate. The menu highlights local products such as fresh fish but it is also possible to order meat dishes. The menu is varied, the plates well presented and the portions rather generous. We salute the pleasant welcome, the professional service and the atmosphere.

Next to the Benedictine monastery, this former barracks, recently renovated in modern wood, now serves as a restaurant. With its two openings, you can enjoy the sun on one of the south-facing terraces. The restaurant has already made its reputation on the Dubrovnik side. It offers a menu of tasty fish, beef with a local wine sauce (Dingac) and seasonal salads. The presentation is neat, as is the service. Lacroma is the more "gastro" version of the snack bar located just at the arrival on the island, near the port.

This restaurant has gone from a simple, hearty menu at reasonable prices to more sophisticated (and more expensive) offerings based around fisherman's cuisine. But it remains a safe bet in Dubrovnik. On the menu, healthy food, Greek or Parmesan salads, seafood platters with whole grilled fish, mussels and rice with dried ink, seafood tagliatelle, but also burgers, beef or fried sausages, among others. Fast service all day long. For dessert, try the delicious chocolate cake with ice cream.

Hidden behind a door on Rue Miha Pracata, this hard-to-find konoba in the old town is well worth the trip up the stairs! Here, local produce takes pride of place, with a modern twist and a taste for Asian-Dalmatian fusion (wok, sashimi...). From homemade pasta to fish dishes for two, as well as beef, duck and chicken specialties, the choice is vast. A big plus: an amazing wine list selected by the owner, a native of Pelješac.

Makarska's seafront restaurants are packed in summer. If you're looking for a little peace and quiet at the table, set back from the riva, this grill-bar with shaded terrace overlooks a park. The à la carte menu offers a wide choice of dishes, including homemade soups, grilled meats and fish, tuna steak, fresh pasta, tagliatelle with shrimp and pine nuts, pizzas, grilled southern vegetables, fries and blitva. In a beautiful village house, a restaurant where you can have lunch even late in the day and late in the evening, which is appreciable. Like most of the establishments on this seaside promenade, it is very busy in summer. It is therefore best to make reservations. Animated by a dynamic and friendly team, the restaurant offers good Dalmatian dishes (sea and local), pizzas and cream desserts in jars quite original. The service is fast and smiling, the portions generous. It is a nice place to have a pleasant meal at reasonable prices.

Among the succession of restaurants that line the avenue, this tavern with terrace, located next to the Crikvenica hotel, attracts attention. On the menu, traditional Mediterranean cuisine, Adriatic specialities, such as risotto with cuttlefish ink, whole pike or grilled squid, accompanied by the essential blitva, this crushed potato and chard in olive oil, very digestible. Homemade fried potatoes are not bad either! The konoba also offers rooms for rent.

It is one of the most famous restaurants in the city, an institution, where hoteliers send their clients without hesitation. We therefore advise you to make a reservation, especially in high season when the tables are quickly filled. The owner and his wife will welcome you with a few words in French and will tell you about their Dalmatian cuisine: a good plate of cold cuts, cheeses, grilled fish and seafood, grilled vegetables, blitva... " Sabbia "means sand in Italian and, indeed, it can be located on the ground floor, opposite the beach, at a lower table and on the benches laid on the cove. At the foot of the hill, topped by the campanile of the San Antonio Abate church, this fisherman's restaurant is renowned in Veli Losinj. It offers a picturesque terrace on the quay. The tables are oriented so as not to miss out on the panoramic view of the old town and the sea. Here, of course, you'll find platters of shellfish, seafood salads and pasta, stewed octopus, fried fish and grilled fish, as well as local charcuterie and wood-fired meats. At the entrance of a seawater, close to a church (Crkvica Navještenja Blažene Djevice Marije) and a lighthouse (lanterna), this restaurant has a dominant position on the rocks. From its terrace, it becomes a wonderful spot for sunset. Recommended as much for the view of a fresh or hot drink as for the restaurant, where you can serve fish cooking but also grilled meat. For a well-placed table, you must book.

A restaurant that does not overlook the port but in a pedestrian alley. That's just as nice. You will find fresh fish and seafood because the owner is a fisherman. On the printed menu, prefer the suggestion of the day, generally the house proposes the arrivals from the port and the market, such as squid and crayfish in sauce, grilled white fish... For meat lovers, there is also lamb roasted under peka (stewed on embers). Accompany it with a good wine from the region.

A good restaurant in Baška, where the competition is tough! In an elegant interior with original marine decor (exposed stonework, model ships hanging on the walls, sculptures, driftwood) and a terrace overlooking the beach, the restaurant offers seafood dishes such as grilled fish and crab in sauce, as well as meat dishes and a wide selection of pizzas and pastas. The house also rents out comfortable rooms in two independent villas on the heights of the resort (villas Anna & Eda).

With its original menu, the Camplin, named after a historic square, explains the fundamentals of Italian pizza making. Since 1992, it is the best pizzeria of the port! It qualifies itself by a large choice of small and large pizzas, by an excellent dough, quality and generous toppings. You can sit in a small elegant dining room with exposed stones or on the terrace overlooking the sea. It is not easy to get a seat, so you have to come early or enjoy your meal inside in summer or take it away.

The family restaurant is a tavern with a rustic and marine-inspired interior. The local atmosphere is pleasant. This fishermen's restaurant features grilled fish, fried squid, but also continental Croatian specialties (ham and cheese platter, fresh pasta with goulash meat). All of this, washed down or cooked with olive oil produced by the family. If you have any room left, you can choose from a variety of homemade desserts, such as fig and walnut cake.

This tavern offers seafood specialties and southern recipes, grilled meats, fresh pasta with anchovy fillets, olives, tomatoes, macaroni with truffles and bacon. But why not try the shellfish risotto, prawns in sauce, whole fish with grilled vegetables and blitva? A wide choice that will satisfy every customer. Pleasant service and lively atmosphere. On the terrace or in the stone-panelled dining room, you can order simple, tasty southern dishes: seafood antipasti, charcuterie and local cheese for starters. We continue with salads (octopus or tuna), seafood spaghetti, grilled meat or fish, served with homemade fries or mashed potatoes and green shoots(blitva), or a vegetarian plate, all accompanied by regional wines. During the summer season, dinner at Roman Matika's fisherman's house is indicated by the Batana boat eco-museum. Spaccio or spàcio, in the Rovinj dialect, indicates a konoba (tavern), with its basements, where wine was stored, which were places for socializing. Here, people drank, ate together in a fisherman's kitchen, then sang or played cards. Today, the place is a tourist attraction, with large tables for groups and a banqueting atmosphere, accompanied bysea shanties (Marco Garbin cultural artistic society).

It's not easy to find a good restaurant in Pula's most touristic street! Here, the terrace is already an asset. Bordered by a park, it offers the pleasure of dining with an unobstructed view of Mediterranean greenery. On the plate, typical southern cuisine: charcuterie/cheese platter, rocket/olive salad, pizzas, fried calamari, grilled meats or ćevapčići, fish (excellent semi-cooked tuna) or southern vegetables, squid ink risotto, pasta in sauce. Regional wines by the glass.

Just behind the Bernardo konoba is the Top konoba. Both offer a fisherman's cuisine generously prepared with local olive oil. This is one of the characteristics of the Dalmatian table. White fish, thick sliced tuna steak, shellfish (langoustines, shrimps, etc.), everything is fresh, usually marinated and grilled or served with a pepper sauce, accompanied by chips or southern vegetables. Other choices, green pasta, gnocchi, a children's menu with a pancake and ice cream for dessert... Remember to book on the terrace on the first floor to enjoy the view of the port.

Don't be fooled by the name of this konoba (tavern), which is anything but miserable! It's perhaps one of the best traditional restaurants in Medulin, with a beautiful location overlooking the harbor and a bike path near the terrace. The family has kept the decor simple, because the main thing is on the plate! On the menu of its fisherman's table, fresh whole grilled fish, generous seafood platter, southern vegetables, blitva, and the pleasure of eating among local fishermen. Good value for money.

At the beach on a budget? Chang's is just the thing to change that. And the fusion of Asian and Adriatic cuisine works very well. Here, they pack your large portion of seafood, chicken or smoked tofu noodles with vegetables in a cardboard bowl (with chopsticks). Same take-out options for Asian BBQ kebabs, shrimp tempura, pad thai or the vegan wok. With that, a good green smoothie or a beer!

Croatia's first Hard Rock Café opened its doors in April 2023 in Dubrovnik's former cloister of the Poor Clares. The 850^m2 space can accommodate over 400 people. You can sit inside, in the beautiful courtyard, or in another outdoor area overlooking the large Onofrio fountain. On the menu are burgers and snacks typical of the British chain, as well as cocktails and live music in the evenings. A small boutique sells T-shirts, hats, badges, glasses and other accessories.

Opening in 2022, Kiosk (literally "kiosk") is the brainchild of the team behind the famous Azur in the old town. As in its first restaurant, the gastronomic offering here too blends local tradition with flavours from elsewhere. The Kiosk menu features ramen, pork tostada, sushi and four versions of the popular Hawaiian dish poke (vegan, tuna, salmon and chicken). The atmosphere is relaxed and the quality/price ratio quite good. Ideal for a gourmet break in the Gruž district!

A restaurant with large tables and a warm atmosphere, which likes to organize meals for parties, weddings and other communions. Among the regional specialities, the classic freshwater fish grilled over a wood fire or one of the best fish paprikash. Grilled meat is not forgotten, sausages, amazing Slavonic sausages, kulen, local cured meats, goulash, all enjoyed with a beer or the fruity white wine of the house. The relaxed atmosphere can become very joyful with musicians.

With its terrace offering a splendid panoramic view of the sea and the island of Cres, the Kvarner restaurant is well placed. In the high tourist season, it's best to make a reservation if you want to be well placed. Open all day, it's very popular for lunch and even more so for dinner.
