Aux 7 saveurs was created in 2023 by a Franco-Senegalese couple who love good food. The bakery is conveniently located in the Auchan Holidays parking lot. The products are carefully crafted from meticulously selected ingredients. Aux 7 saveurs offers breakfasts, lunches and dinners, or simply a traditional baguette. Trained by Gérard Taurin, world champion ice-cream maker, Maxime, a retired fireman, and Huong, a former marketing manager, embarked on a delicious adventure after a trip to Senegal where they discovered all the exotic flavors of the country. Today, they are award-winning master confectioners and concoct exquisite ice creams and jams in their workshop, using the best local products. The result is incredible: an intense fruit taste in the mouth, and not sugar, for the pleasure of the taste buds. A nice gourmet stop!

A very clean bakery, surely one of the best in Dakar. This is where the Dakar bourgeoisie and expatriates come in the morning to pick up bread and croissants, or to enjoy an apple or strawberry tart at snack time. Sandwiches, hot dogs and pizzas are also on sale. The cosmopolitan, upscale population contrasts with the hustle and bustle across the street. The second floor is also a restaurant. Simple cuisine, affordable fare and pleasant surroundings. But the staff are not always friendly...

The Kermel market is a beautiful building dating from 1860, which was destroyed by fire in 1994 and rebuilt identically in 1997, and is now a listed historic monument. Smaller than Sandaga, it tends to be frequented by a European clientele. Its prices are reputed to be higher than in the rest of the markets, but this is certainly justified, since it sells fresh, dried and canned produce of the highest quality. In addition to its beautiful architecture, Kermel has its own special features: you'll find antique dealers, souvenir vendors and flower sellers.

If it is not the first fish market in Senegal, the Dakar fish market offers with the arrival of fishermen a spectacle that is worth the trip alone. The carts then pull the manna of fishing from the pirogues to the stalls, and the bidding begins. Direct negotiation between supplier and consumer, it is necessary to know how to negotiate well to get the best price. There are also shrimps, crabs and other crustaceans as well as fish braised directly on the spot by the saleswomen. Authentic atmosphere!

This family-owned distillery produces a variety of alcohols from a variety of spirits and exotic fruits. You will receive a warm welcome and will be given a tour of the facilities before being offered a tasting of your choice. Some specialities: Warang cream (17 % vol.), spirits, milk, cocoa, coffee, sugar, banana; Cashew apple (20 % vol.), spirits, cashew apple, sugar; Tamarind (20 % vol.), spirits, tamarind fruit, sugar; Baobab (20 % vol.), spirits, monkey bread, wild honey. A pleasant botanical garden completes the visit.

Even if one is solicited from all sides by the sellers, and this as soon as the boat crossing, the small craft market of the island is an obligatory passage of your visit. Le New Bayonnais is the place to go for a good French breakfast, a gourmet snack or a meal at any time of day. It offers French pastries, fresh fruit juices, sandwiches, waffles, crepes, French fries, burgers, paninis, Senegalese dishes and - for those fed up with rice - mixed salads. Every Friday and Sunday, the evenings are enlivened by concerts of Diola or jazz music. The atmosphere is convivial, and the terrace quickly becomes a daily meeting point.

Right in the centre of the Medina, it is one of the largest markets in Dakar, not very touristy and typically African. High in colour and giving off a thousand and one scents, it displays fresh produce, spices, beauty products, kitchen utensils and clothes. But it is especially famous for its office products, books, magazines, second-hand newspapers at reduced prices. Going back up to the stadium, the most curious will discover the corner of the marabouts where witchcraft products are sold: crocodile and monkey paws, snake tails...

Don't expect Italian-style spiral ice-creams, but rather very good artisanal ice-creams made with powdered milk and fresh fruit, served on a crunchy homemade cone. Françoise, Michelette, Reine and Delphine, four welcoming and smiling Senegalese women, were trained by an Italian association that supports them in their business. The ice cream machine is efficient and the premises impeccable. Mango, strawberry, banana, passion fruit or coconut, indulge your sweet tooth and refresh yourself at the same time!

This is an address that is popular with the people of Dakar for its crispy baguettes and delicious pastries. The windows are tempting: croissants, pains au chocolat, crepes, cakes and pastries. Everything is made on the spot up to the quiches lorraines, croque-monsieur and pizzas which are appreciated at lunch time. Also good ice creams and chocolates for the greediest.
