The Kermel market is a very beautiful building from 1860 which was destroyed by fire in 1994 and rebuilt identically in 1997, classified as a historical monument. Smaller than Sandaga, it is rather frequented by a European clientele. Its prices are reputed to be higher than in the rest of the markets, but this is probably justified since fresh, dry or canned products of very good quality are sold there. In addition to its beautiful architecture, Kermel has its own particularities: you can find antique dealers, souvenir sellers, flower sellers.

Un marché à l'architecture typique, à visiter le matin avant de prendre la "chaloupe" pour l'île de Gorée par exemple... Hibiscus et autres fruits à infuser à bon prix.

J'ai plaisir à me rendre au marché Kermel à chacun de mes séjours à Dakar. Ça grouille d'odeurs, de monde, c'est une immersion dans la vie Dakaroise.
