Marie-Hélène Mendy, the owner, has 8 rooms, some of which are under renovation. A real heart for this friendly and warm character. The rooms are comfortable, clean and decorated with patina on the ceiling and are ideal for relaxing holidays. Meals cooked by Marie-Hélène are delicious and the proportions can satisfy the greatest eaters. Grilled fish and mafé upon request.

The meals are copious and tasty, based on local dishes and products of the sea. Here are organized walks in the bolongs and fishing trips, very famous. Possibility of taking courses of pottery, batik and djembé. Dancing parties are organized at the bar every Thursday evening.

This hotel, owned by the diocese of Ziguinchor, which had some 30 rooms, has been under construction for some time now. Only 12 rooms were operational at the time of our visit. All are ventilated, with en-suite shower rooms and mosquito nets. In Building A, on the first floor, each room opens onto two terraces. On one side, a view of the historical remains, on the other, the beach. The outdoor terrace under the palm trees is most charming. It's a pity that the establishment is taking too long to complete its renovations.

A few dozen meters from the main road, this hotel can be a possible stopover before going into the Niokolo Koba park or on the way back to Kaolack. One of the oldest hunting hotels in the region, authentic, real. The site is charming, offering rooms spread out in a large wooded park, all air-conditioned. A beautiful swimming pool, well maintained and clean, and renovated rooms. The restaurant is also exceptional. Very modern, located on a beautiful terrace, it overlooks the Gambia River and offers a typical cuisine, with a lot of game on the menu: warthog in sauce, turtle dove brochette ... a delight. Really the best proposal in the area!

In the Greater Dakar area, the Hotel Le Fouta has the merit of staying for one or two nights in Dakar. It offers rooms without special charm but comfortable and pleasant. The location is a lot more, central but quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Musicians, this artists' residence is just the place for you! Nestled at the northern tip of Saint-Louis, in a calm environment conducive to creation, it features a recording studio with state-of-the-art equipment, as well as cosy rooms in an early ^20th-century building. Lost in the middle of nowhere, in the heart of the mangrove, the island where Ambroise and his family live invites to relaxation and disconnection. Unfortunately the site caught fire in 2021 and Ambroise only has a double hut for his guests. The bathroom is located outside, in the open air, and the shower is taken with a bucket of water. The meals feature grilled fish, cooked simply but just as delicious. Several activities are offered: dugout canoe rides, walks and fishing. Romantic and wild.

The Kaloa-Les Palétuviers complex is a hotel, a restaurant and a night club. Its main assets: its proximity to the lively village center, its pretty and large swimming pool under the palm trees, and its private terraces overlooking the bolongs located at the back of the establishment. The large garden is luxuriant with hammocks and tables placed everywhere. The rooms are clean and well decorated, air-conditioned with private bathroom. The restaurant offers a variety of cuisine, very good and pleasant, installed under a large straw hut.

Located in the city center and above the eponymous Lebanese restaurant, Big Faim offers about 50 rooms as well as 2 modern and European-style equipped suites (air conditioning, satellite TV, wifi, fully equipped bathroom...), quite expensive, but mostly frequented by businessmen. One can cool off in the swimming pool in the inner courtyard overlooking the restaurant. Prefer shawarmas, Lebanese specialties and pastries to Senegalese dishes, without more. Friendly and available staff.

This pretty house centered on a tree-lined patio was the former hotel of the Senegalese navy. It has been enthusiastically taken over by François and Véronique, who offer six colonial-style rooms, freshly furnished with new beds, televisions, fridges and decorated with works by local artists. The overall effect is excellent, and the cleanliness impeccable. In this little haven of peace, you can relax to the sound of birdsong. In the evening, the bar-lounge is the perfect place to enjoy a good vintage or a digestif with friends. Excellent table d'hôtes.

In the heart of a baobab forest, the establishment enjoys a privileged location 15 minutes from the airport and close to some of the region's must-see activities. The 14 air-conditioned rooms are basic and clean, opening onto a small private terrace that overlooks a well-kept garden. You can play table soccer, watch TV or enjoy local and international cuisine.

Opened nearly thirty years ago, the Zebrabar is located at the entrance of the Langue de Barbarie National Park. This solar-powered camp offers accommodation for all types of budgets. You can pitch your tent, or stay in beautifully decorated bungalows with indoor or shared bathrooms. No need for a fan in the rooms, the sea breeze does the trick. A nice terrace on the river, facing the Langue de Barbarie, to bask in the sun and also kayaks to go for a walk.

This hotel is about 3 km from the city center, at the entrance of Thies. A bit out of the way, but it has the advantage of being close to the bus station and the toll highway. We stay there in basic rooms, but comfortable and spacious. Certainly without much charm, the establishment is nevertheless clean and calm. About thirty kilometers from Blaise Diagne airport, it will nevertheless be perfect to spend a night if your flight lands at night and you have to go to Saint-Louis the next day. Pleasant staff and good food.

The Djoloff seduces from the outside. The architecture of this St. Louisian-inspired building is elegant, and the interior is tastefully decorated. Moreover, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and you have access to all the comforts of a large hotel (wifi, air conditioning, satellite TV). At the entrance to the town of Richard-Toll, close to the main road and shops, the Auberge de la Cité is a good address for backpackers passing through. The eleven rooms, six of which are air-conditioned with indoor bathrooms, are well kept and equipped with television. They offer a simple but appreciable comfort for resting. During the day, you can relax in the outdoor courtyard with a book, in the shade of the bougainvillea. Good value for money. Friendly, helpful staff.

Nestled in the heart of the Niokolo Koba Park, this hotel, which had been abandoned for a few years, was taken over by the owners of the Oasis Oriental Club hotel in Tamba. It was in the process of being rehabilitated at the time of our visit, and about twenty comfortable rooms and huts were already operational. It is located on the banks of the Gambia River from where dugout canoe trips are organized. Birdwatching enthusiasts will be pleased with a viewpoint overlooking a waterhole frequented by many species of birds, about 200 meters from the hotel.

Run by the same owner as the Thomas Sankara Inn, this camp has traditional huts, beautifully painted with African animals. Disseminated between coconut tree alleys, they are equipped with a television, a wardrobe, air conditioning and an indoor bathroom. The restaurant overlooks the Gambia River and offers African and European cuisine. You can also sit by the lovely swimming pool for lunch. The hotel offers off-road tours and car rental.

"Haayoo" means welcome in Peulh, and this hotel is without a doubt the best place to stay in the area. Its lush green garden and T-shaped swimming pool will make you forget that you are staying on the side of the national road. You will be able to sleep peacefully in one of the 40 rooms or huts of this establishment. All of them are fully equipped, spacious and comfortable. As for the restaurant, it offers a wide choice of poor quality Senegalese dishes. Possibility of excursions in the bush. Accessible to people with reduced mobility.
