PILOT FOOTPRINTS

Street square and neighborhood to visit
4/5
2 reviews

In the heart of the city, you will find the Walk of Fame of the Le Mans winners, known here as the "Drivers' Footprints". At the end of each race, the winners place their prints in plaster. A bronze plaque is then cast into the ground in the streets of the neighborhood and the following year the inauguration of this new plaque takes place the day before the race. Since 1991, among the legends: Jacky Ickx, Henry Pescarolo and, of course, the comic book hero Michel Vaillant. In total, more than 45 plaques have been cast around the Place de la République and in the streets of the hypercentre. A flash-code offers information on the race and its winners. Today only 3 plaques are visible due to renovation works. They should be back in 2023.

THE HANSI VILLAGE & ITS MUSEUM

Art gallery exhibition space foundation and cultural center
4.1/5
29 reviews
Closed - Open to 10h00

Instead of the old bookstore Chapter, just opposite the famous house of the Heads, this museum dedicated to Hansi was inaugurated at the end of November 2015. For memory, Hansi (alias Jean-Jacques Waltz) is a famous illustrator and caricaturist colmarien. The museum is designed like an authentic Alsatian village, with cobbled streets, arched porch and main square. Surmounted of a large stained glass reproducing a drawing of Hansi, a wide staircase out of wooden gives access to space muséal located on the first floor. The scenography of the places makes discover multiple original works of Hansi to the access of a ludic course which reveals drawings of childhood, watercolours and advertising posters, but also of the Alsatian tableware and stamped derived products of time. At the end of your visit, you will be able to make some shopping in the shop of the museum located at the ground floor. It abounds in regional produce: fine wines, artisanal preserves and foie gras, gingerbread in multiple forms, without forgetting a very interesting choice of works on Hansi and Alsace! To also note: the Hansi museum can be privatized in the setting of business events.

Closed - Open to 08h00

Petitcollin, the last French factory of bathers, poupons and traditional dolls, offers the visit of its workshops. Opened around 1860, the workshop continues to make small friends complicit in children. The company Petitcollin reveals to the public its techniques and secrets of centuries-old manufacturing. In this way, you can live on the birth of babies and Poupées dolls, from the work of raw material to the finished product through all the phases of creation (face, hair and dressing). Finally, a museum area dedicated to the Maison house is accessible within the cultural space of the community of tin land. Thanks to a thematic course conducted through loans from private collectors and with the valuable help of the company, one can (re) discover the whole history of the brand and that of many models that have made and still shine the eyes of the children. A film summarizes the history of the brand and its know-how.

WALKS IN PARKS AND GARDENS

Parks and gardens

In 2016, Angers obtained the label, «Fleur d 'or», which a municipality can only obtain once every 6 years, and which rewards the city's efforts in landscaping. With over 100,000 trees, 800 hectares of green spaces, 43 parks and gardens, 300,000 plants produced in municipal greenhouses, Angers is certainly a green city. In the nineteenth century, greenhouses, nurseries and fruit gardens forged a horticultural identity that lasted since Angers created in 2005 Vegetates, a pole of competitiveness of the plant, bringing together companies, training and research centers, which makes it an international reference in the field of plant innovation. An ideal city to stroll through the greenery: in the city center, the Jardin des Plantes, with its romantic atmosphere made possible thanks to its English layout in 1901, has 70 remarkable trees while the Jeanne-d 'Arc lanes have disappeared for young shoots. In spring and summer, the Mail garden bloom offers beautiful colors in the eyes of walkers. They can also enjoy the 110 ha of Saint-Nicolas Park, which will also delight athletes, children (playgrounds and animals) and nature lovers of all kinds. Its history is ancient since it is Foulque Nerra who dug the pond to create quarries and mills. Much more recently, Balzac Park extends its roads and woods along Maine and is regularly flooded. Its creation is the result of numerous consultations which ensure the sustainable and ecological management of these ancient landfills and alluvial meadows rich in biodiversity. The Arboretum is a pleasant place to relax with flowers, greenhouses and water bodies. There is a small semi-enclosed area in which all the biotopes in the region have been recreated with information signs. Terra Botanica, the first playful and pedagogical green park, offers nearly 110,000 m ² of gardens and aquatic areas with a quarantine of attractions.

BOXWOOD CHAPEL GAZEBO

Just a few kilometres from Besançon, this exceptional view of the Franc Chapel is located in the hamlet of the Buis Chapel, on horseback on Fontain, Morre and Boucle. This lookout on the crest of St. Stephen Hill is approximately 500 metres high. So the Bisontins come there on the big summer heats to find a fresh breeze. After a little tour in the hamlet, you can quietly visit our Buis Lady Chapel before pushing to the lookout. Next, we will stop at Notre-Dame de la Libération, a small church built in a former fort in the aftermath of the Second World War in memory of the Bisontins and Bisontines victims of the conflict. A statue of more than 7 metres overlooks the panorama and the small church. Between contemplation, historic walk and point of view, the pretexts for making this walk are numerous.

JACKDAW NOTHING TO DECLARE

Visit the locations of Dany Boon's film, Nothing to Declare. Relive the border crossing between Macquenoise (Belgium) and Hirson-Forêt (France). The atmosphere of the film is tremendously well recreated, thanks in particular to André Meunier, a true local figure! You will learn more about the territory, about various products such as Chimay beer or maroilles and about filming. Eight years after the film's release, the places, which have been transformed into a small museum, still attract many visitors, so that in 2017 the team created an escape game called "The Office". Locked in the customs offices, your team has 60 minutes to find the keys to the famous 4L of the film in order to escape the customs chief. The success has been such that, since then, two other escape games have emerged: "Le Garage" and "L'Enquête". A frank part of laughter in perspective.
