Day 1: First steps in Kathmandu

Steps: Katmandou

Take advantage of this first day to recover from the long journey. Stroll the bustling streets of the capital and soak up the city's atmosphere. Don't hesitate to leave the Thamel district to escape the touts and take in the spectacle of daily life.

Day 2: Early morning in Kathmandu

Steps: Patan, Katmandou, Swayambhunath

In the early morning, when the stores have not yet raised their curtains (around 7:30 a.m.), return to Dubar Square. At the foot of the temples that have made Kathmandu such a dazzling kingdom, you'll witness the unpacking of the market. Soon, the whole city will be awake. Continue your visit towards Swayambhunath (2 km west). At the top of a long series of steps, devotees crowd around the valley's oldest stupa every day.

Day 3: Patan

From Kathmandu, drive to Patan. The Royal Palace Museum is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the country and a must-see.

Day 4: Patan and its hidden temples

Steps: Patan

Take the streets of the ancient town of Patan in search of Buddhist temples, built out of sight in little lessons.

Day 5: Discovering the Terai

It's time to leave the Kathmandu Valley and discover the Terai. Next stop: Chitwan National Park.

Day 6: Chitwan National Park

Explore the jungle on foot or on an elephant's back. Open your eye and remain discreet, you may see crocodiles, deer, tigers or rhino.

Welcome to Lumbini, the historic birthplace of Siddharta Gautama, more known as Buddha. It is here under a tree of Bodhi that Siddharta reaches Enlightenment.

Day 8: On the way to Pokhara

On the long road to Pokhara, do not hesitate to stop at the village of Tansem, the starting point for beautiful day hikes. A small medieval town full of charm, Tansen is not yet on the classic tourist routes. His visit will not fail to delight you.

Day 9: Pokhara, Nepal's "Saint-Trop'"

Steps: Pokhara, Annapurna

Located on the edge of a pretty lake, Pokhara is also the paragliding capital. This is too good an opportunity not to try the big jump. If you are afraid of the void, you may prefer rafting, kayaking or mountain biking. It is time to make your last purchases in preparation for a trekking trip. The Annapurna trek is one of the most popular hiking routes (it is easy to do without preparation) and takes sixteen days.

Day 10: Back to the temples of Kathmandu

Steps: Pashupatinath, Bodnath

In this country, where Hindus and Buddhists gather at the same temples, there are several sacred sites that are not to be missed. Pashupatinath and Bodnath are among them. Just a twenty-minute walk separates the two sanctuaries, making for a pleasant stroll. Spend the night in one of the monastery inns in Bodnath.

Day 11: Bhaktapur

Let yourself be captivated by Bhaktapur, the most beautiful of the three ancient medieval kingdoms.

Day 12: Bhaktapur, the "city of the devotees"

The city unveils its treasures on every street corner and bewitches visitors: peacock windows, imposing stone sculptures, guardians of temple-pagodas..

Day 13: Back to Kathmandu

It's already time to turn back and head for Kathmandu for a final visit and shopping spree in the Thamel district.
