Day 1: Prehistory in Minorca

Steps: Ciutadella

Arrival in Menorca. The most northerly of the Balearic islands boasts the oldest remains of the Talayotic civilization, dating back 1,500 BC. Head for the western tip of Menorca, where you'll discover the Naveta des Tudons.

Places of interest :
NAVETA DES TUDONS

Day 2: The Romans in Majorca

Steps: Pollença, Alcúdia

A short hop and you're in Majorca, following in the footsteps of the Romans who settled here in 123 BC. To the east of the island, take a look at the remains of the Roman theater at Pollença. This site is only a stone's throw fromAlcúdia, a pretty town surrounded by ramparts dating back to Moorish times.

Day 3: Palma: from Moors to Spaniards

Steps: Palma

You continue your journey with the Arabs to discover Palma's old town. Only one monument has survived their centuries-long occupation: the Arab Banõs. The cathedral, or La Seu, was built over an ancient mosque... It symbolizes not only the city, but also the transition from Moorish domination to the Christian era.

Places of interest :
CATHÉDRALE / BAÑOS ARABES

Day 4: Eivissa's fortifications

Steps: Ibiza - Eivissa

Now we're off to the Pityuse Islands, starting with the largest, Ibiza. Tired of English and French privateers, Charles V had ramparts built aroundEivissa (the Catalan name for Ibiza, as well as its capital) in the 16th century.

Day 5: Formentera and its five towers

A short taxi-boat ride will take you to the Balearic Islands' smallest island, Formentera. In the same spirit as Ibiza, but this time to defend itself against pirates from North Africa, the island was equipped with watchtowers in the 18th century. A tour linking these five fortified buildings is a good way to discover this relatively small territory.

Day 6: From hippies to clubbers

Steps: Es Canar, Sant Carles De Peralta

Skip the centuries and come back to Ibiza to discover a living vestige of the hippie movement that took over the island in the 1960s. Every Wednesday, Es Canar hosts the largest hippie market in the Balearic Islands: Las Dalias. And why not take the opportunity to visit one of the modern temples to hedonism, Ibiza's giant discotheques known as Pacha, Amnesia or Ushuaïa!
