Day 1: Day in Adelaide
Steps: Adelaide
A day to enjoyAdelaide, the only major city in Australia that escaped Americanization. A peaceful city that has kept a certain colonial style.
Day 2: Heading to Port Augusta
Steps: Port Augusta
From Adelaide, drive north on the Stuart Highway to Port Augusta. Visit the Wadlata Outback Centre for its outback and Aboriginal history exhibits and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. A taste of the bush before you head into the other Australia.

Day 3: Troglodyte city of Coober Pedy
Steps: Coober Pedy
Head for the silence of the Outback and Coober Pedy, the mining town and opal capital. Coober Pedy, the "white man's den" with its habitat in old mines and its 250,000 opal miners' shafts. Half of the population lives underground. Also sleep one night in an underground hotel.
Day 4: Endless deserts
Steps: Uluru - Ayers Rock
Hit the road early for the long drive to Ayers Rock. On the way, stop to admire the Painted Desert and the Breakaways Reserve with its colorful landscape, the location of the Mad Max movie. Then stop to sleep at the Cadney Homestead (bungalows and motel rooms)

Day 5: On the way to Ayers Rock - Uluru.

Second day of road to Ayers Rock.

Day 6: Glowing landscapes
Steps: Uluru - Ayers Rock, Yulara
At sunrise or sunset, admire the magnificent show on Uluru that is decorated in reds. Take a walk around it, and walk around the 26 domes of the Mount Olgas. Night in Yulara, nearby, in the campsite. You can even rent a fully equipped tent.

Day 7: Steep cliffs of Warrtaka National Park
Steps: Watarrka National Park
It will take you at least 3 hours to drive to Kings Canyon. Watch out for camels and kangaroos along the way. To discover Kings Canyon, take the Kings Canyon Walk (6 km). You will discover the Garden of Eden, a superb view of the Outback and its 100 meter gorges. Sleep on site at Kings Creek Station.
Day 8: Discovery of Alice
Steps: Broken Hill
On the way to Alice 230 km away. Discover the city and the School of the Air, the school of air that allows the children of the Outback to take courses by radio.

Day 9: Colour gradient
From Alice, make a jump (4X4 advised) at the Rainbow Valley Conservation Reserve and the Simpson Gap to make beautiful walks.
Day 10: Continuation of the crossing of the country
Steps: Tennant Creek, Darwin
Head up to Darwin, close to the Stuart Highway, and you'll see the eggs of the rainbow snake, a symbol of Aboriginal mythology, and the Devil's Marbles rock formation. Pass Tennant Creek (population 3,200) and stop further north at Daly Water, Australia's best known outback pub. Camping on site.

Day 11: Arrival at Katherine George National Park
Steps: Katherine, Nitmiluk National Park
Direction Katherine. Departure in trek in the Katherine George National Park.
Day 12: Spectacular gorges with blue-green waters
Second day at Katherine George National Park. Discover its magnificent gorges and rapids and take a refreshing bath after the Furnace of the Outback.
Day 13: Discovery of Darwin
Steps: Darwin
Head for Darwin the tropical, capital of the Northern Territory and the Top End. Visit of the city.
Day 14: After the desert, the green nature of Kakadu National Park.
Visit of Kakadu National Park. Discover its fauna and flora, as well as its numerous archaeological sites.
