Yulara is located 20 km before the entrance of the park, on the only access road to the park. This tourist town welcomes more than 400,000 visitors per year. The Ayers Rock Resort is located there and includes all the accommodations of the region - hotel and camping, very good restaurants, and all tourist services. Everything is accessible within a 15 minute walk (supermarket, post office, doctor, pharmacy, police...) and there is also a free shuttle bus. Yulara was opened in 1984, following the decision to demolish and remove all the tourist facilities in the park, which were previously at the foot of Uluru and causing environmental damage.
