CONDITORI LA GLACE

Patisserie €€

This tea room, opened in 1870 on the initiative of a young pastry chef, Nicolaus Henningsen, remains a real institution in Copenhagen! Mahogany panelling, old-fashioned shop windows, brass counter, here is an unmissable address in the land of delicacies. You can taste the energy speciality, sportskage or "sportsman's cake". You'll understand that it takes a lot of breath to finish off the generous creamy portions! Ice cream is of course one of the specialities to try. If you're on a diet, the front of the shop is a feast for the eyes!

As soon as you see the shop window, your mouth will be watering with envy. Buka is a small bakery located near Kongens Nytorv. A small store with a high ceiling and a few bistro tables, a back room with bread racks and a tiny open kitchen with a beautiful copper bar where customers can sit and watch the chefs at work. It's casual, the perfect place to grab a snack with a glass of wine or craft beer, or for a well-deserved snack break after a busy day of sightseeing!

LAKRIDS BY JOHAN BÜLOW

Confectionery

Lakrids is THE Danish specialty that you will find everywhere in Denmark. For the little story, the young Johan Bülow decided to set up a workshop-boutique in his native village. His idea: to cook licorice in the store and spread its fragrance all over the place. And it worked. Everything was sold out in less than two hours. The last customer even bought the tasting bowl on the counter! Licorice is eaten all over Scandinavia! A favorite is the Habanero and passion fruit.

SVANEKE CHOKOLADERI

Chocolatier

Svaneke chokoladeri is a shop-workshop that will win unanimously! Indeed, here only greediness! The only problem in this chocolate shop, the embarrassment of choice! To taste on the spot with a coffee or to take away. Among the specialties: Bornholm sea buckthorn, ginger and apricot marzipan, coconut truffle, filled chocolates (coffee latte/caramel, mint fondant or classic nougat). Not to mention the raspberry blueberry, classic vanilla or perhaps mocha cream rolls. It is possible to assist in the making of these products!

SICILIANSK IS

Glacier

As you stroll through Vesterbro, the Siciliansk Is sign is sure to catch your eye. And with good reason: there's plenty to salivate over. A hand holding an ice cream cone points to... an ice cream parlour. A Danish ice cream maker inspired by Sicilian flavors such as tangerine, lemon and almonds that are to die for... deliciousness. We're enchanted by the saffron, rose, pistachio, lemon zest and olive oil ice cream. However, local flavors are not forgotten: koldskaal (fresh yogurt eaten when the weather's nice) or the unavoidable lakrids (licorice).

KARAMELLERIET

Confectionery

It all began with a story of friendship between two schoolgirls from Bornholm Island, Tina and Charlotte, who created these delicious toffees made on the island. They come in all flavours. After training in their kitchen and having finally found the right technique for making them, they opened their workshop-shop in 2006. Candies with original names: rocking stone or granite for hard toffees; summer flirt, touch of sun or dusk for soft toffees.

SANKT PEDERS BAGERI

Patisserie

This small bakery in the heart of the Latin Quarter is said to be the oldest in Copenhagen. The bakery has always prepared typical pastries and several kinds of pastries to take away. The house speciality is tebirke, a puff pastry brioche filled with marzipan and sprinkled with poppy seeds. But it is only on Wednesday, and only on that day, that you can taste onsdagssnegle, an appetizing cinnamon roll. Be careful, you won't be the only one standing in line outside. Indeed, more than 4,000 are sold every Wednesday!

Confectionery

A must-have specialty of Copenhagen: lakrids. Confectionery made of a licorice pearl wrapped in a crunchy colored shell. Johann Bülow opened his first store on 07/07/07. His idea was audacious: to make Danes want to eat licorice. How did he do it? By boiling it in the store's vats and letting them smell it from 100 meters away. And it worked! Different flavors for this coating as pretty to look at as delicious to taste. Chocolate, passion fruit, salted caramel, lemon custard... Lakrids for ever !
