HAVNEHOLMEN
Read moreThis district was born from the rehabilitation of former disused industrial wastelands, wedged between the railway tracks and the docks, transformed into a dynamic and ultra-modern place to live. Along Kalvebod Brygge, a pedestrian promenade has been created along the waterfront to the "Copencabana" marina. The glass buildings (some housing hotels) and the Fisketorvet shopping centre (the fish market) are opened up by the Bryggebroen removable footbridge, which is both cycling and pedestrian-friendly and is extended by the famous Snake circle bridge.

KAREN BLIXEN MUSEUM
Read moreKaren Blixen was born in 1885 in this beautiful property, a former inn bought by her father where she lived before marrying in 1914 Baron Bror von Blixen-Finecke, owner of a coffee plantation in Kenya. On the first floor, her library and an exhibition room allow visitors to discover the life and work of a woman writer known for her famous autobiographical novel The African Farm, as well as for a short story that was also adapted for the cinema, Babette's Feast . A cafeteria and a small bookstore adjoin the house.
The bird sanctuary. Karen Blixen's love of nature was expressed in her literature, but also in the creation of this refuge, 15 hectares at the back of the estate. Accompanied by renowned naturalists of her time, she wished to create a wild and diverse habitat for migratory birds, but that it would also be open to all species, including those without a garden to nest in, to live freely in nature. In the novelist's mind, the reserve should be permanently open, an ideal place to find peace and rejuvenation, alone or with loved ones.
A film showing photographic captures of the reserve is ideal, as you cannot get close to the birds. But, if you want to observe them, put on warm clothes, take your binoculars, sit down, enjoy the surrounding nature and live something magical. That's the museum's sound advice!
