MAISON PUBLIQUE
Read moreDerek Dammann and his financial partner Jamie Oliver, world-renowned British chef and TV host (Naked Chef for Intimates), opened the establishment in autumn 2012. The premises look like an English pub (which means Maison Publique is the translation of Public House). So expect to find British specialties on the menu with the chef's very personal touch. To accompany all this, the house offers, for our greatest pleasure, beers from Quebec microbreweries and Canadian wines.
POINCARÉ CHINATOWN
Read moreWe're in good hands at this attractive resto-bar set above an Asian grocery store. Poincaré's creators all come from well-known microbreweries, and the chef, who is passionate about lacto-fermentation, has come up with a number of small dishes and preserves (all made on the premises) to enjoy over a glass. Excellent wines and cocktails, in addition to a fine selection of beers. Try the fermented fries with shallot confit mayonnaise. The ideal place after a visit to Chinatown or before a show at the SAT.

And for even greater intimacy, the small vinyl bar in the basement transforms into a unique club in the evening.
LE RED TIGER
Read moreThe Red Tiger is a kind of hybrid between a neighborhood pub and a typical Vietnamese street food restaurant. On the menu: green papaya salad, barbecue and sesame pork skewers, mini Vietnamese chicken and shrimp pancakes... We recommend that several people share a few dishes, so you can try everything. There's a great list of house cocktails and even a signature beer, a light blonde that goes down well. If the place doesn't have a terrace, there's a large garage door that opens wide on sunny days.
BABACOOL
Read moreA cross between the Orient and Canada. Concrete gray, black and pastel pink adorn the ultra-modern restaurant housed in a handsome, less modern building. At every stage of the day, you can sample dishes flavored with zaatar, harissa, mint... And it's delicious! At lunchtime, pita bread sandwiches (fried chicken, falafel or tuna crudo) take center stage. In the evening, there's a choice of hot or cold dishes, and the brunch menu is even more varied, with a mix of savory and sweet dishes. Worth a try!
CHEZ CHILI
Read moreLet's face it: we don't go to Chez Chili for the setting, but for the plates, each one as good as the next (and believe us, a good part of the dishes have been tested and approved!). Special mention to the excellent eggplant with garlic, melt-in-the-mouth, to be served with white rice and sautéed tofu for example, all for the right price. The service is always very pleasant and the tea is served at the table, alongside the classic water carafe. A real good address in Chinatown!

With konjac "salmon", tofu "crab" or sweet potato tempura, the vegetal creativity is limitless. The result is elegant and, above all, well-balanced. A good address for gourmets curious about new flavors.

It's THE place to go in the neighborhood.

Here, we feast on the Vietnamese specialties that have made the reputation of this popular restaurant, which never lets up. A full pot of tea is brought to us the second we set foot under the table, then we warm up with a Tonkinoise soup or a delicious phở. It's fresh and light despite the generous proportions. You can go there with your eyes closed, it's simply good, the service is fast and the prices are pretty low. What more could you ask for?

RESTAURANT CABOTINS
Read moreA crazy address in Montreal! You only have to see the lamps hanging from the ceiling to understand that everything is possible here, both in terms of decoration and food. The old mannequins and the walls decorated with buttons remind us of the old haberdashery that occupied the place. Bonus: the bay window overlooking the street, the beautiful terrace in season and a "lovers' lounge" for an intimate meal. On the plate, quality is not to be outdone. The subtle sweet and sour combinations and the enhancement of the leg of lamb, duck or game will delight the gourmets.

Each season, the menu is renewed according to market produce, for a simple cuisine with an American flavour (burgers of all kinds, grills, fish & chips, lobster guédille, tartars...).
TUCK SHOP
Read moreBeautiful small unpretentious square with brick wall, recycled lamps and retro furniture. Very much in the spirit of the neighborhood! According to some, Tuck Shop has a little je-ne-sais-quoi reminiscent of the Monkland Tavern in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce district in its early days. Not surprising when you learn that some of the old-timers from this address work here, in the kitchen and in the dining room. The slate displays wild mushrooms, duck breast, saddle of rabbit, Icelandic cod, organic salmon and other small dishes depending on the arrivals. Good little address!
PASTAGA
Read moreAt Pastaga, we put Quebec on the plate with local products and dishes of varied inspiration. But we're also in a wine bar, with a beautiful 100% natural menu. This "appellation" refers to those small estates where the vintner-peasant takes care of all the stages of production, from the vine to the bottling, using no chemical treatment of the vines and soils, and no inputs into the winemaking process. On the plate, taste. The satay is excellent, as is the green papaya salad and the laksa soup. The prices are low, but the tapas-like portions will make the bon vivants reorder, to the point where the bill is much higher than the menu would suggest. Nevertheless, a great address if you're in the area.

You'll come back again and again.
CAFÉ BIG TROUBLE
Read moreWith its modern, fir-green look, it's impossible to mistake it for anything else. Despite its young age, the restaurant, which is also a café and, more generally, a place to live, already has a strong personality. A rather comforting brunch, as we know how to do in Quebec, and a lunch that oscillates between poutine, smash burger and vegan mac and cheese, in short, gourmandise is not to be outdone. And from time to time, events are organized: open mic, DJ set and drawing... Follow us on social networks. Bonus: it's possible to privatize the premises.
