Things to see and do Mauricie

There is an observation tower and a 35-metre waterfall, the Fur Trade Interpretation Centre and the Circuit du coureur des bois, the Saint-Maurice River Interpretation Centre, which focuses on the log drive, the Nature Interpretation Centre with its naturalized animal specimens, and the Félix-Leclerc Interpretation Centre, which is dedicated to the Quebec chansonnier. In winter, the centres are closed but the trails remain open for outdoor activities.

It connects the harbour park with Champlain Park, a square with ponds and trees framed by the state-of-the-art concrete structures of the cultural center and City Hall. Across the square stands the cathedral with its copper-clad bell tower, a Gothic-inspired monument with Westminster elements.

The walk along the St. Lawrence River offers magnificent views of the river, the port and the Laviolette bridge. It is also the place of departure and arrival of cruise ships.

In 1721 René Godefroy of Tonnancour, Seigneur of Pointe-du-Lac, built a seigneurial mill on the Saint Charles River. The grain grew there until 1965. Today it hosts concerts, conferences, exhibitions and other cultural events. Guided tours, demonstration of the operation of the mill mechanisms, souvenir shop, hiking trail 7 km.

A true rendezvous with the lumberjacks awaits you here! Your guides, who are all musicians and storytellers, will transport you back to the era of the forest industry that helped develop the region. The way of life in the early days of colonization, the transportation of wood by float and the processing of this raw material are all subjects covered. La Cookerie, a folkloric bistro with terrace, showcases regional products (with musical performances on Thursday and Saturday evenings).
