LA CITÉ DE L’ÉNERGIE
One of the biggest attractions in Quebec that includes an observation tower and offers a breathtaking view of the city.
Ranked as one of Quebec's top attractions, the Cité de l'énergie, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022 with great fanfare, is a vast immersive museum and tourist complex located on the banks of the Saint-Maurice River. The site includes a 115-metre observation tower that offers a breathtaking view of the city and the region (get your camera out!). The site also features the Planète Énergie exhibition, which includes a dynamic exhibit with 20 interactive terminals and a multimedia show (immersive experience). Visitors are invited to become aware of the delicate balance between nature, energy and human society on a planetary scale. The visit also allows visitors to see the interior of a hydroelectric power station still in operation, the Shawinigan-2 power station, or to discover the collection of industrial machines of the Cité de l'énergie and Hydro-Québec at the former Northern Aluminum Company (N.A.C.) power station. In the evening, a show is presented in a covered and heated outdoor rotating amphitheatre. Other attractions include: Prime Minister Jean Chrétien's Canada in the World Museum, a pontoon boat cruise on the St. Maurice River, a guided tour of the city on a tramway-style bus, the Synergy Gardens (over 450 varieties of flowers, shrubs and trees). Have a wonderful time with your family at the Cité de l'énergie, the immersive museum where you are part of the adventure!
