The ideal place to start the visit of the centre, right at the top of the city. Not far from the so-called Mazarin fountain of Mazarin dating back to 1683, there are ancient mansions of the th and th centuries, including the old palace of the Ducale bar. The facade was decorated in 1785 with two solar dials where Masonic symbols are included.

On the left bank, this th century building succeeded a carolingian priory destroyed by the Norman people. It is built in rusty granite, and features beautiful, recently restored th century Romanesque capitals.
