Today, a trade that crosses half-century, it applies all labels, all certificates, all the medals possible! This is the case of bakery-chocolate-bakery Derval, which is a greedy institution in Laval. This is due in large part to the talent of chocolate of the boss, who did not just take over the shop of his father (also nickname Moses), but always showed a keen interest in innovation, risk-taking (he bought two other signs, on Laval and Changed). For the new recipes of chocolates too! Like Pegasus Hooves, which have belonged for several years to the gastronomic heritage of the department of Mayenne…

It is one of the best chocolate and pastry shops in the city and, without a doubt, the one whose window is the most artistically decorated during the Christmas season. The quality of the chocolates and cakes is the work of Jean-Yves Cerisier - the father of specialties to be tasted with an eye on his scale, the Douanier Rousseau and the Alexandra - and the beauty of the various decorations that adorn the façade and the window throughout the year, that of his wife Christine. It is true that she watches over her pretty store like a mother hen over her brood, and likes to show her talents as a decorator every year in December during the Christmas markets in Boston Square, where the "Imperial's chalet" is systematically one of the most noticed for its originality.

There is no longer the German appellation of origin which entered French soil in 1988 and has seven stores in Mayenne, two of which in Laval: one 24, rue Saint-Melaine and the one we chose, just steps from the Bourny at the exit of Laval, on the territory of Saint-Berthevin. If Lidl deserves its title hard discount it is because it spends as little as possible to care its shelves and its inner deco. Here, as in the other Lidl, it is the reign of cardboard and pallets (one would think in an E. Leclerc of the 1970 s!). La Cave des Cinq Chemins is a wine shop located in Saint-Erblon. Since 1998, owner Philippe Delaunay has been offering a selection of wines, beers, spirits and local produce. The birth of this mini-brewery - first called Ecomarché - welcomed everyone who, living or working in the city centre, wanted a generalist sign that could allow them to shop without having to win one of the big areas around Laval (too far! Not the time!). Located on the first floor of the old New Galleries, this little Intermaché presents two other qualities very appreciated by its clients: It welcomes a butcher and has a parking lot to which you can reach the High-Chiffolière street or that of the Britais.

The Fromagerie du Haut Anjou in Bierné is a must for cheese lovers. This cheese dairy offers a range of typical cheeses, made from the region's organic raw milk. Particularly popular are the pâtes pressées cuites, which are long-ripening, long-keeping cheeses. Since the summer of 2012, the Alignés area (Actual, KFC, Citroën…) has a brand new bakery in the name that flows from source: The Baker des Alignés (simply). This arrival is welcome for those who go ahead after their work: they can now return home with classic or fancy bread; it is also for those who work in a nearby company because they make a new canteen where it is pleasant to swallow, in a room or terrace, sandwiches, pastries and, among other things, a formula from 6 to € (with fries, panini and a drink).
