IF you spend your holidays in Alghero, do not hesitate to visit at least one agriturismo. There you will taste the authentic Sardinian cuisine, tasty and generous. Its Mandra is no exception to the rule and offers a rich local cuisine: home-made hams, ravioli with ricotta cheese and herbs, roast suckling pig. They also offer a vegetarian menu and another for celiacs. The farm offers 5 charming rooms for those who would like to spend the night, but they are at the end of the runway of Fertilia airport.

This good address in Alghero is a little bit away from the centre and its animation. Here, there are no pizzas, but dishes turned towards the sea, worked with carefully selected and fresh products. The impeccable presentation of the plates and the sober setting set the tone: you are in a gastronomic bistro. The plates reveal an original bresaola of tuna bresaola with fennel, orange and liquorice or a delicate peach return with artichoke carpaccio and almonds. Don't miss the tiramisu for dessert, one of the chef's specialities.

This pizzeria, which doesn't look like much, borders the pretty Piazza Efisio and Pasquale Tola in the historic centre. As a terrace, the restaurant (like the neighbours) sets up its long tables on the street, in the Italian style. In the dining room, the walls display the passion of the owner with scarves, jerseys and rugby balls. On the menu, about forty pizzas are offered at very low prices and there is something for everyone. Try the Facebook, the Tola, the Special one or the Sarda. A useful address for a little hunger.

In this vaulted room, fresh as an English garden, very good classic cuisine is served. The fish from the day's catch wait on a bed of ice on the side table, the meats are seared at the right time and the primi piatti, or pasta, are served in several ways: with cuttlefish ink, clams, stuffed ravioli... The very cordial atmosphere and the pleasant service make it a good address to share.

La Musciarra may not offer the best value for money in the city, but the address is very pleasant. Located right next to La Calanca, at the end of the port of Stintino, the few tables on its terrace give directly onto it. One stops here to drink an espresso or a macchiato during the day, a cocktail or a glass of wine at aperitif time. The establishment makes coffee, bar and also proposes a simple and light restoration. The menu offers antipasti, pasta and some grilled meat or fish dishes.

This trattoria, located in a city centre lane, is a 2-storey restaurant, very popular with fish dishes. There are excellent specialities, such as prosciutto au or spaghetti to bottarga, and also good pizzas.

One of the few pizzerias in the city to serve at lunchtime. The choice is endless and it is sometimes difficult to decide between the simple margharita, the mozzarella di buffala pirata, or the calzone soufflée. They're delicious anyway.

If you are starting to saturate with Sardinian flavours and are looking for an interesting and cheap option other than pizza, this restaurant is for you. The reason the prices are so good is that you only eat there on the go. Quiches, lasagna, pizza, kebabs, couscous... You will find everything in the small restaurant of Youssouph, a French-speaking Senegalese who has been living in Sardinia for 30 years. Not to be missed, if only to remake the world with Youssouph by tasting fataia, a Senegalese speciality of course.

This restaurant offers an appetizing choice of tapas of Italian rather than Spanish inspiration. We fell in love with the smoked sardines served with burrata and tomatoes: a delight! The setting of the room is very pleasant, with its large bay window and blackboards displaying the day's suggestions. We also liked the sofas laid out on the pavement, perfect for sipping a glass of wine, an aperitif or a digestive. The only downside is that the portions are not very large and you have to multiply them to satisfy your appetite. The bill goes up quickly.

This small, unpretentious restaurant is located in the lively Piazza Tola on summer evenings. It offers Mediterranean and Sardinian cuisine, above all, which is distinguished by traditions that are still very much alive. Regulars refer to it as "grandmother's cuisine". The dishes are offered in portions or half portions, ideal for satisfying all appetites without spoiling anything. The setting also seems to have remained unchanged for two generations. The beautiful old tiles, worn out over the years, set the tone - burgundy - of the decoration.

For over 20 years, this trattoria close to the sea prepares delicious regional fish dishes. Booking recommended in high season.

On the port of Stintino, a small restaurant without pretensions, in classical cooking. Very pleasant location.

A stone's throw from the Church of the Rosario, welcome to Montecristo, a pretty little address in the heart of Sassari. Here you can eat very good pasta and tasty pizzas. The fish also gets the honours of the menu and is available in refreshing tartars, crunchy fritters or pan-fried steaks. A wide choice of wines is available to accompany these dishes. You can sit down in a beautiful vaulted room or on the terrace stuck in a narrow alley behind the building. Save a small place for one of the beautiful homemade desserts.

Pietro Depalmas warmly welcomes you in the heart of the agriturismo. The location is perfect for those who love nature and escape some tourist corners. In the evening, meals at will. Pietro cuisine has its best specialities with garden products. The meal will let you forget the decoration of the rooms, but they are very clean and comfortable.

This upscale restaurant located in the city centre hides behind an ochre facade and somewhat faded green shutters. In a studied décor, with organza curtains and fleece chairs, it serves a kitchen full of finesse. Its specialty: Sicilian street food. On the menu you can find involtini di carne, meat rolls covered with sauce, arancina siciliana, rice balls, or the famous and delicious pasta alla Norma, pasta prepared with aubergines, tomato and ricotta.

The Pintus found the ideal location to open a restaurant outside the citadel. It is certainly along the road, in the new town, but the view of Castelsardo is breathtaking from the pleasant terrace. In addition to beautiful pizzas with a soft crust, the chef prepares pasta with seafood or generous prawns, plates of grilled vegetables for those who watch their line on holiday, grilled fish from the day's catch. The setting is simple and without fuss, but the quality of the plates and the view make it a good address.

Of all the restaurants and eating places near the Lido beach, La Pergola is undoubtedly one of the best. Located in front of the hospital, hidden behind the trees and the fountain, it specialises in pizzas - really delicious -, fish and seafood. The chef likes to mix Sardinian and Catalan influences, as in his fregola prepared like a paella. The large terrace under the trees and the large elegant room can accommodate half of the Lido beach. At least!

Opposite the large car park in Piazza Mazzotti, Da Bruno is an institution in Sassari. It seems that the best pizzas of the city are eaten there on tables decorated with the colours of Italy. The tables are a bit tight, because you have to be able to accommodate the many regulars. The fish and meat dishes are not bad either, but if you are a pizza lover, don't procrastinate too much and order one with your eyes closed. No matter what the ingredients are, the crispy dough baked in the wood-fired oven is always a treat.

Located on the port of Stintino, facing the beach, the restaurant offers a wide choice of pizzas and Sardinian specialities (fregolas aux, spaguettis alla Bottarga.). In the summer, the terrace is very popular. The sunset from this place is wonderful. Think about reserving!

On the ramparts of the old town of Alghero, Movida has its pleasant terrace facing the port. There is a good sea kitchen with a special mention for the seafood spaghetti and the seiche ink, a treat! In dessert, the gourmets can throw their hand on the famous Catalan cream. Welcome and attentive service from the boss. Note that prices are a little more expensive than average.

In the final stretch for the Castello, if your legs don't carry you anymore and you are hungry, you will find at La Guardiola a professional team to welcome you. This renowned restaurant, with its breathtaking sea view, is one of the first in the city to offer gastronomic cuisine. The chef prepares seafood specialities that give priority to quality over quantity. Many of the dishes include pasta, while others offer fish in four different preparations: marinated, stewed, fried and grilled.

A sparkling address in the historic centre of the city, where the talent of the young chef Cristiano Andreini is brilliantly expressed. By highlighting local products, the recipes dare combinations of flavours that are as amusing as they are successful. Among the chef's signature dishes are tagliolini in a pecorino crust with sage and boutargue and puff pastry with olive oil gelato. There are also local specialities such as culurgiones with tomato sauce. The tables occupy a modern interior room or the vaulted passage of the alley.

When you ask the locals which is the best restaurant in Stintino and they all say Lina... You have to go there! The interior is not the most engaging but the panoramic terrace (and veranda) that overlooks the old port and the city is a little wonder. Here, you can taste typical dishes of the traditional "Stintinese" cuisine with some modern reinterpretations of the chef that we tasted: the Fregola alla Stintinese (typical pasta of Sardinia in the shape of small balls) and the tuna in the Mediterranean style. Delicious!

In this gourmet pizzeria, each pizza is the subject of a particular culinary research. The creativity of the young chef Sandro Cubeddu is expressed through the choice of top quality flours and fillings, with an unparalleled freshness. Worked with natural sourdough, we bite into gourmet pizzas with burrata, courgette flowers, raw ham, tuna and anchovies, not to mention shrimp and olives. A real culinary experience, accompanied by selected wines and exquisite homemade beers.

A few steps from the Fertilia marina, Acquario is a nugget discovered by chance. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but what a treat when the dishes pass before your eyes! The chef offers local specialties but revisited with his personal touch. Some of the best pasta in the Alghero area! You will find more locals than tourists on the terrace or in the dining room. Well-stocked plates, festival of flavors and very attentive staff. We love this terrace under the arcades on summer evenings and we want to come back.

Sottoprua is an enchanted interlude: the terrace on the edge of the lagoon facing the Roman bridge, the care taken in the service, the execution and presentation of the dishes, in short the refinement of the place, everything contributes to transform your meal into a gastronomic and romantic experience because the setting really lends itself to it - especially at sunset! The chef sublimates the products of the sea as much as those of the earth. Expect to be surprised by what you taste because the rule at Sottoprua is to think outside the box!

The Chameleon offers the best view of the blue and green shades of the Asinara Strait, Cape Falcone and the Spanish Tower. The best tables are as hard to come by as a deserted strip of sand on La Pelosa beach after 9am. Elegant, a little blinged out, the terrace has large garden armchairs and white-topped tables. Coffee, cold drinks, rosé, cocktails: there is a drink for every moment of the day and champagne at all hours. The menu favours fine fish and shellfish.
