KONOBA TAJ

GAGLIARDO BY BOCCAPORTA

On the menu: an "Istrian street food & wine bar" formula, with wine by the glass, charcuterie/cheese bruschetta, hamburger-fries and pastries all day long. More elaborate options include fresh pasta with white sauce and truffle shavings, or tuna steak with sesame seeds on a bed of green rocket salad.
RESTORAN ISTRA
Read moreIn this family-run restaurant, traditional local recipes are given an Italian twist. A good address for fisherman's cuisine, fresh pasta with lobster and tomato sauce, cuttlefish simmered in buzzara (a traditional Dalmatian sauce made with white wine, garlic and parsley), a casserole of mussels, squid and other shellfish... Also, on the terroir side, a dish of mixed grilled meats cooked in an earthenware pot, accompanied by sautéed potatoes (a dish that can be shared to order). Beautiful covered terrace.
KONOBA VELI JOŽE
Read moreA striking harbor restaurant, with a decor that's part English pub, part Croatian fisherman's bar. Offers Istrian specialties: grilled fish or seafood, squid with blitva, marbled mussels, cod in white wine (also served by the pitcher), marinated anchovies, langoustine risotto. For those who prefer meat, lamb chops or grilled ćevapčići with French fries, but also gnocchi in sauce or spaghetti bolognese. Friendly welcome.
WINE CORNER
Read moreLocated in an alleyway off the main street, this wine bar is appreciated for its good atmosphere and friendly welcome. The quality of its wines is also an argument in its favor; don't hesitate to ask for advice on regional vintages, such as a good Malvasia. The place remains very popular thanks to its large, full salads, fish and seafood platters and, above all, for its platters of local cheeses and charcuterie. Some say they've diminished in quantity, but they're still generous and fresh.
