In the heart of the old town, Hiša (house) Homan is one of the oldest Škofja Loka buildings. She is famous for her mural painting depicting Saint Christopher (of the th century). The house is famous for its bar and terrace in the shade of the trees where it is good to enjoy you. But it also becomes famous for her kitchen. In 2007, the Homan bar became the Homan Homan. The cuisine serves medieval dishes. It's a real culinary journey. This traditional house is almost 5 centuries old and has been used as an inn since 1822. Two centuries ago, gingerbread (lec meaning "gingerbread") was made here. The tradition is resurfacing as a workshop-museum opened its doors in the summer of 2007. This reputable inn relies on tradition and never disappoints. Carniole's specialities are in the spotlight and the menu is in French.

It's always nice to have a seasonal meal under the chestnut trees, in the middle of nature. The hostel has many rooms, some of which are dedicated to poets and hunters. The cuisine is based mainly on meat in sauce and gives pride of place to seasonal game. The fillet of wild boar with cheese struklji is a house speciality. Apple strudel (jabučni zavitek) or honey struklji are worth a visit. Tasting in the wine cellar and buying local wines with wise advice, even Tito succumbed to this place.

You quickly feel at home in this gostilna thanks to the simple and warm welcome of Boštjan Bernik, who makes you appreciate the local dishes and his bread baked on the spot while his wife Jožica works in the kitchen. The surroundings lend themselves to a stroll, the plain is at your feet and customers do not hesitate to come from the capital to here. The house specialty, a variety of meats and vegetables served on a wooden platter, is tempting. The kind of scene Brueghel would have been sure to sketch with his brushes.

Housed in a former granary, the restaurant Kašča prepares traditional Slovenian cuisine, whose house specialities are contemporary adaptations of medieval dishes. You'll probably fall for the beef polenta with wild mushrooms or the homemade sausages made on the premises. More classic international dishes as well. The owners have been cooks from father to son for almost two centuries. The room looks like an old tavern installed as a duplex. A great stage!

In the summer, there is always a lot of staff on the terrace and in the hostel to satisfy the numerous guests with lots of local specialities, among which the pure deer smoked dry sausage and ajdovi krapi made of buckwheat flour, shaped like a half moon and filled with cheese. The service is efficient and fast, offering rather light desserts.

Kristof has evolved, introducing more and more products from organic or biodynamic agriculture on its menu. This establishment changes its menu according to the seasons and there is no shortage of ideas, even when it is no longer a question of culinary art. Ecological accommodation projects and the promotion of local products are some of the topics that animate the owners of the premises. Kristof remains the sure value of Kranj and its surroundings and the welcome is always as friendly as ever. We will particularly appreciate its pretty shaded terrace.

Tabor offers sea food in the heart of the mountains. With white tablecloths and service of circumstance, you can enjoy scallops, shellfish mixes a la buzara, marbled prawns a la plancha or the catch of the day in a salt crust. The freshness and the mastery of the products are indisputable. Highly recommended.
