A gallery as we like them, which opened its doors at the end of 2017 on the boulevard du Montparnasse. Father and son combine their respective skills here in Carrara marble, whose unique purity and whiteness have made it famous since ancient times, and the pearl of Fakarava, harvested from the oldest pearl farm still in operation on the Fakarava atoll (a UNESCO classified biosphere reserve). From it come large-scale sculptures by Nito DiDariel (the father), exhibited here and temporarily transported for some of them to the seabed of Fakarava. As for jewellery, it is Joachim himself who raises his pearl oysters: back in Paris, both of them brilliantly combine the finesse of the pearl and the strength of the marble. The jewels that result from it are unique and beautiful. In everyone's works, nature is never far away...

Specialized museum

1 review

The main stages of the history of the Parisian hospitals are detailed in this museum found in the Miramion hotel (seventeenth century), beautiful building which was once a hospital for the poor, then the headquarters of the Central Pharmacy. The collections consist of pieces of great variety (paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, furniture, processed, medical instruments ...), the oldest dates back to the Middle Ages. They include the "Livre de Vie active", an illuminated manuscript of the late fifteenth century, and a nice set of pharmaceutical jars made of earthenware. A highlight of the tour is passing through the garden of medicinal plants, which is organized in the medieval manner. One can discover about sixty varieties. Unfortunately, the place just closed. The hotel Miramion was sold and normally no one can occupy the premises. The museum should thus reopen within two years in a new place.

His neo-Gothic form may suggest that it dates from the Middle Ages. In fact, the Church Saint-Eugène-Sainte-Cécile was built in the 1850 s. The interior is rich in stained glass windows - by Antoine Lusson and Eugène Oudinot from Gérard Séguin's boxes - and in chandeliers.

Ancient furniture is a in recent times. The unfortunate man does not deserve such treatment! Having lived through the centuries without ambage, remained of a rare beauty at a time when you don't swear only by Ikea, should force a little more respect. The gallery François Léage has been working for generations now to maintain the aura of this furniture and art objects. Specialized in the th century, it will help you to see only high quality objects obtained by the best craftsmen of several trades. From the furniture marqueté to the hectic, laques panels applied to the finest porcelain, it is the century of French gold that resumes. We have to visit this gallery to appreciate all the refinement of such furniture, and even though the contemporary decorators do not lend themselves to play, the mixing of objects of that time to our contemporary interiors is not as unthinkable as one could imagine it… A small tour on the virtual gallery of the site may give you ideas!

BUCENTAURE

Guided tours
4.8/5
16 reviews
Open - Close to 02h00

If you look for the relationship between Bucentaure and travel, you will discover first that in Greek mythology the bucentaure is no other than a centaur (man with a horse) having a bull body. Apart from the galopade of which such a creature is capable, but which cannot lead it far, there is little link with travel. On the other hand, learning that the Bucentaure (in Italian Bucintoro) was a parade building that we used in Venice to celebrate the wedding of the doge with the sea, one will find one, this time, eminently poetic and suggestive! The person who placed his activity under such a banner by choosing this name, a program of dreams and history for himself, is Beatrice Lubin, a lecturer of the Ecole du Louvre. His words are to animate for you, with all his science and his passion for his profession:

Visits of museums (national, City of Paris, other Parisian museums, museums in the vicinity of Paris) Note museums that are not often included in the tourist tour programme, such as the Arts and Crafts Museum or the Public Assistance Museum, for example.

Visits to monuments, where, again, Béatrice Lubin included in his programme places which are a little away from migration routes in large tourist herds: The Sorbonne, the Convent of the Carmelites, the Picpus Cemetery, the former abbey of Port Royal and others…

Visits from historic quarters.

Slide conferences (Understanding painting, sculpture, History of France, furniture, fashion, civilizations, religions, Our heritage).

If you want to make tourism in Paris when you are Parisian, the Bucentaure is perfectly adapted!

TOMB OF HELOISE AND ABELARD

Places associated with famous people to visit
4.8/5
9 reviews
Closed - Open to 08h00

This tomb represents one of the most mythical love stories in history. Pierre Abélard is a philosopher and composer who had a terrible passionate story with Héloïse. Indeed, the young woman, coming from a noble family, after having known the beginning of her education in a monastery, would obtain the right to continue her education with a preceptor. Pierre Abélard would be chosen for this role and a love story will follow. This one wrote to her many love letters. While Fulbert, both the young woman's uncle and canon of Notre-Dame de Paris, discovered this forbidden love. Heloise told Abélard she was pregnant. She gave birth to Astrolabe, by Abelard's family. The lovers were even going to marry without any malicious scrutiny, because that would destroy the career of the teacher Abélard. Finally, Fulbert revealed the case and the marriage. Abelard was punished and even emasculated. Making him imperfect in body, this punishment would stop his ecclesiastical career and, at the same time, his teaching. The kingdom was shocked by Fulbert's private revenge. The retaliation law was worth the same punishment for Fulbert who would be emasculated, and suspended from his duties. Héloïse eventually took the veil in Argenteuil and Abélard retired as a monk at the Saint-Denis abbey. This love story has been a great success for many centuries. This monument is dedicated to the glory of this legendary couple.

The 1821 th century building was demolished because of its poor state and was built in. Burned during the Commune, it is rebuilt shortly afterwards but remains unfinished. Later, it was flooded in the flood of the Seine in 1910, bombed in 1944 and, finally, again victim of a fire in 1982. Fortunately for her, the damage was limited this time.
