This historic abbey was converted into barracks after the French Revolution, and since 1915 has been home to the French Ministry of Defense.
Founded in Beauvais in 1217, then moved to Paris by Louis XIV in 1672, Pentemont Abbey has served a variety of functions. Transformed into barracks after the French Revolution, since 1915 it has been home to the French Ministry of Defense. The architectural styles of the buildings reflect these different eras. The war memorial and commemorative plaques pay tribute to our veterans. The building is open to the public on Heritage Days. It is classified as a historic monument and is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense.
