This tomb represents one of the most mythical love stories in history. Pierre Abélard is a philosopher and composer who had a terrible passionate story with Héloïse. Indeed, the young woman, coming from a noble family, after having known the beginning of her education in a monastery, would obtain the right to continue her education with a preceptor. Pierre Abélard would be chosen for this role and a love story will follow. This one wrote to her many love letters. While Fulbert, both the young woman's uncle and canon of Notre-Dame de Paris, discovered this forbidden love. Heloise told Abélard she was pregnant. She gave birth to Astrolabe, by Abelard's family. The lovers were even going to marry without any malicious scrutiny, because that would destroy the career of the teacher Abélard. Finally, Fulbert revealed the case and the marriage. Abelard was punished and even emasculated. Making him imperfect in body, this punishment would stop his ecclesiastical career and, at the same time, his teaching. The kingdom was shocked by Fulbert's private revenge. The retaliation law was worth the same punishment for Fulbert who would be emasculated, and suspended from his duties. Héloïse eventually took the veil in Argenteuil and Abélard retired as a monk at the Saint-Denis abbey. This love story has been a great success for many centuries.
