THE PASSY CEMETERY
A cemetery set in a vast terrace, housing tombs, mausoleums, crypts and chapels of various styles and periods.
Created in 1820, this cemetery is located on a large terrace overlooking the Place du Trocadéro. Its flowering beds and trees adorn some 2 600 tombs, tombs, crypts and chapels of various styles and periods, many of which are monumental, decorated with bas-relief, statues and marble medallions, bronze, stone, wrought iron… It is home to a number of distinguished guests: artists, great names in finance of politics or industry. Here are Debussy, Fauré, Manet, Giraudoux, Cognacq-Jay, Louis Renault, Marcel Dassault, Georges Mandel, Edgar Faure, Tristan Bernard, Alexandre Millerand, Jean-Louis Barrault, Madeleine Renaud, Fernandel… Among the countless examples of burial art dotting the cemetery, retain this reproduction in white marble of the Piétà that Michel-Ange sculpted for the church Saint-Pierre in Rome, reproducing the tomb of Baron Pierre de Perényi in the 10 th division.
